De Vries denkt niet meer aan Bakoe: "Deze dingen gebeuren"

Na een tegenvallend raceweekend in Azerbeidzjan wil Nyck de Vries in Miami sportieve revanche nemen. Voor de AlphaTauri-coureur worden het zijn eerste rondes rondom het Hard Rock Stadium, maar hij maakt zich daar geen zorgen over. De Vries is vooral blij dat hij direct weer aan achter het stuur mag kruipen.

De Vries beleefde vorige week in Azerbeidzjan een weekend om snel te vergeten. De Friese coureur crashte in de kwalificatie op vrijdag en deed dat ook in de Grand Prix op zondag. Dit weekend wil De Vries zijn eerste WK-punten gaan pakken, hiervoor moet hij goed voor de dag gaan komen op de bloedhete omloop in Miami.

Positieve dingen

De Vries is vooral blij dat hij weer mag gaan racen. Volgens hem is dit het ideale medicijn om te herstellen van een tegenvallend weekend. Tegenover de internationale media sprak De Vries zich uit in Miami: "Ik denk dat het echt heel behulpzaam is om meteen weer te gaan racen. Ik denk dat we nog steeds een aantal positieve dingen kunnen meenemen van ons weekend in Bakoe. De pace was namelijk echt heel erg goed. We boekten een goede vooruitgang als team en we begonnen dat weekend zeer competitief."

Miami

De Vries stak in Bakoe al de hand in eigen boezem en in Miami deed hij dat nog eens dunnetjes over. De AlphaTauri-coureur wil echter niet te lang blijven hangen in de verhalen uit Azerbeidzjan: "Deze dingen gebeuren en je moet daarna gewoon doorgaan. We zijn vroeg aangekomen in Miami en we zijn al op dinsdag begonnen met de voorbereidingen. Ik ben blij om hier te zijn en ik kijk er naar uit om te zien wat ik dit weekend kan doen."

Hopelijk denkt hij wel iets anders. Anders gaan we dit nog vaker over De Vries zien en horen.

als verstappen niet geboren was hadden we hem hier helemaal afgekraakt, de ongeveer 20 leden. en terecht, want het is middelmaat. mag je tegenwoordig niet meer zeggen, maar bekijk de feiten maar, voor dit niveau bedoel ik dan, want ´wij´ leggen het uiteraard tegen hem af, maar kritiek mag tegenwoordig niet meer, zelfs als je het goed onderbouwt.

  Nou ik had al geen hoge verwachtingen van hem en hij slaagt er voorlopig nog aardig in of zelfs daar nog onder te zitten. Nou snap ik best dat hij er nog even in moet komen maar de fouten die hij maakt zijn gewoon dom.

  Ik had idd ook geen hoge verwachtingen van Nyck, bij zijn F2 kampioenschap kon hij maar net Latifi verslaan. En nu staat hij op pole position om een waardige opvolger van diezelfde Latifi in de F1 te worden.
