Perez niet tevreden: "Niet mijn beste vrijdag"

Sergio Perez stond in aanloop naar de Grand Prix van Miami in het middelpunt van de aandacht. Door zijn zege in Azerbeidzjan werd hij gezien als een echte uitdager voor zijn teamgenoot Max Verstappen. De vrijdag in Miami verliep echter niet geheel naar wens voor Perez, maar hij houdt goede hoop.

Perez begon de dag in Miami met een zeer teleurstellende eerste vrije training. De Mexicaanse coureur eindigde in deze sessie slechts als elfde, zijn teamgenoot Verstappen sloot de sessie af op de vierde plaats. In de tweede vrije training ging het direct een stuk beter en sloot hij de dag af op de vierde tijd. Verstappen was de snelste man in deze sessie en het verschil was dan ook bijna een halve seconde.

Na afloop van de tweede vrije training keek Perez terug op zijn dag in Miami. De Mexicaan was niet geheel tevreden en deelde dat gevoel met Sky Sports: "We hebben vandaag een paar dingetjes uitgeprobeerd met de mechanische balans van de auto, daarvan hebben we wel wat geleerd. We konden niet zoveel leren van de longruns want we konden niet veel rondjes rijden. Ik had niet de beste vrijdag en mijn rondje was ook nog eens best slecht. Ik verremde mij in de laatste bocht, dus er zit nog veel in het vat. Ik reed vandaag niet heel goed dus ik kan mij nog verbeteren."

Wat ik zo irritant vind aan deze training is dat hij een half uur op zaterdag was waardoor je niet kan zeggen het is pas vrijdag tijden zeggen niks.
