'Eenzame' Alonso eindigt weer derde achter Red Bull: "Ze zijn niet te stoppen"

Vierde podium uit vijf races voor Fernando Alonso. De Spanjaard was tijdens de Grand Prix van Miami the best of the rest achter de ongenaakbare Red Bulls en finishte weer als derde.

"De auto was geweldig", begon de tweevoudig kampioen voor de microfoon. "Wel een beetje een eenzame race", doelde Alonso op de grote gaten tussen de rijders voor en achter hem.

Gedurende de Grand Prix vocht de Spanjaard met landgenoot en Ferrari-coureur Carlos Sainz. "Ferrari zag er sterker uit dan verwacht, maar voor de rest een eenzame race."

Na de eerste serie pitstops was her gevecht met Sainz snel over door een tijdstraf voor hem na te snel rijden door de pit en kon de Aston Martin-coureur cruisend naar een P3-finish.

In het begin van de wedstrijd was er echter genoeg te beleven. "Het was leuk. We maakten ons wel een beetje zorgen met starten op de vuile lijn, maar uiteindelijk ging alles goed."

De blik ging bij de kampioen van 2005 en 2006 snel vooruit. Een drukke mei-maand staat voor de boeg. "Met plezier een podium gepakt en dan hebben we een triple-header met Imola, Monaco en Barcelona. Hopelijk kunnen we op deze voet doorgaan."

Vier derde plaatsen in 2023 heeft Alonso bij elkaar gereden. Dat moet naar meer smaken. "Vooraf zou ik blij zijn met een podium, maar nu willen we natuurlijk meer."

"Op zijn minst een tweede plaats, maar de Red Bulls zijn niet te stoppen en altijd op pole en supersnel. Hopelijk hebben we meer kans in Monaco en Barcelona", sloot de Spanjaard strijdvaardig af."

Ik vind de F1 echt op leven door Alonso, wat een energie heeft deze man, het is werkelijk briljant op deze leeftijd en niet vergeten dat hij een tijdje uit de F1 is gewees. Hulde aan deze man!

  vleugel alleen is niet voldoende. vloer telt ook mee. het hele aero concept moet overhoop. dat kost geld, geld dat vóór de budget cap vrijelijk beschikbaar was. nu niet meer. 2023 lukt niet, 2024 kan wel, maar Rbr zit ook niet stil natuurlijk

Hahahaha...ook Alonso is tot de conclusie gekomen dat Red Bull niet te verslaan is. Ik ben wel benieuwd of hij derde of vierde in de eindstand wordt.

Als RB er niet was, dan was er een Alonso dominantie. Ook niet leuk om steeds naar die dominantie te kijken. Gelukkig zijn er twee RB. Zijn er toch nog races om naar te kijken.
