Ricciardo over terugkomst: Heb nog 'onafgemaakte zaken' in F1

Het lijkt erop dat Daniel Ricciardo steeds hongeriger wordt voor een comeback in de Formule 1. De Australiër zegt dit jaar als reservecoureur van Red Bull volop van het leven te genieten, maar hint steeds meer naar een echte wil om als fulltime coureur in de koningsklasse terug te keren.

Daniel Ricciardo ging na zijn periode bij Red Bull een paar avonturen in de Formule 1 aan, waarbij hij voor Renault en McLaren in de topsport uitkwam. Vooral in het laatstgenoemde team viel de man uit Perth echter flink tegen, waardoor hij na twee jaar de deur werd gewezen.

Zijn exit bij McLaren betekende echter geen volledige exit uit de Formule 1. Oude liefde Red Bull gaf hem de positie als reservecoureur van Red Bull, een baantje die de achtvoudig Grand Prix-winnaar naar eigen zeggen flink van kan genieten. Toch meent Ricciardo dat hij steeds meer uitkijkt om weer fulltime terug in de Formule 1 te kunnen rijden.

"Ik ben dit jaar echt aan het genieten, en dat zal ik nog wel blijven doen", begint Ricciardo tegenover Sky F1. "Maar tegen volgend jaar zal ik zeker die honger hebben om weer terug naar de grid te keren en te kunnen racen. Ik heb het gevoel dat er nog wat onafgemaakte zaken voor mij liggen. Ik zal mijn werk in de simulator blijven doen en ik heb in juli een test met Red Bull. Dat zal mij weer echt stimuleren en al dat gevoel teruggeven. Ik moet mezelf natuurlijk wel een beetje onder druk zetten zodat ik het team kan herinneren dat ik het nog steeds in mij heb. We zullen zien."

Je hebt je kans gehad tegenover Lando, en je bent finaal door het ijs gezakt......dus hup, terug naar Australië en nooit meer terug komme.

Nou, ik hoop dat dat zo blijft..... onafgemaakte zaken.
Je hebt je kans gehad tegenover Lando, en je bent finaal door het ijs gezakt......dus hup, terug naar Australië en nooit meer terug komme.

  Ik hoop dat 'ie zich weet te herpakken en zo hard trapt dat Perez een ander team mag zoeken. Die wordt de laatste tijd ineens de hemel in geprezen, maar met die auto staat lager eindigen dan tweede gelijk aan falen. Het verschil met max blijft echter beschamend groot. Twee tot drie tienden hoort het maximum te zijn. Zou zomaar kunnen dat Ricciardo dat wel uit de Red Bull weet te halen.

  Na die achter de ellebogen actie door stiekem naar Renault over te stappen, terwijl hij al rond was over een contractverlenging bij RBR (alleen zijn handtekening ontbrak nog), had ik gedacht dat hij van Marko gewoon in ene streep richting Helmust blijven lopen.
