Wolff trots op komst oud-medewerker Red Bull

Het team van Mercedes is dit jaar niet op de gewenste wijze aan het seizoen begonnen. Naast de baan gaat het echter wel naar wens bij Mercedes, teambaas Toto Wolff is bijvoorbeeld in zijn sas met een aantal nieuwe werknemers. Wolff is vooral blij met de komst van voormalig Red Bull Racing-medewerker Jayne Poole.

Begin dit jaar werd bekend dat het team van Mercedes Jayne Poole had aangesteld als speciaal adviseur. Het was een opvallend nieuwtje aangezien Poole in het verleden werkzaam was bij Red Bull Racing. Bij de Oostenrijkse renstal was Poole onder meer de COO en was ze de HR-directeur. Bij Mercedes bekijkt ze momenteel de teamstructuur en geeft ze advies over wat er beter kan.

Bewonderen

Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff is in ieder geval blij dat Poole voor zijn team werkt. De Oostenrijkse teambaas is vol lof over haar en deelt zijn enthousiasme met Motorsport.com: "Ik bewonder Jayne al tien jaar. Ik leerde haar toen kennen en sindsdien hebben we een prettige relatie. Ze werkte voor de concurrent, maar je kunt mensen bij de concurrentie wel respecteren en waarderen. Haar rol bij Red Bull is volgens mij altijd belangrijk geweest voor het succes in de afgelopen seizoenen."

Extra beetje

Toen Poole vertrok bij het team van Red Bull, besloot Wolff toe te slaan en haalde hij haar naar zijn team. Hiermee ging een wens van Wolff in vervulling: "Ik wilde haar al heel erg lang in dienst nemen. Dit kon echter nooit, maar toen kwam er plotsklaps een mogelijkheid. Ze is echt een geweldige aanvulling. Ze weet heel veel, is een geweldige psycholoog, kent veel andere organisaties en ze heeft van bijna alle goede mensen in de sport een profiel gemaakt. Haar aanwezigheid geeft de organisatie net dat extra beetje wat we nodig hebben."

    Jayne Poole was hoofd catering en verzorgde onder andere de koffie tijdens evenementen en worstenbroodjes bij vergaderingen.
    Zij moest bij RBR het veld ruimen nadat ze telkenmale het budget overschreed.

      ze schonk ook altijd lauwe koffie zonder melk, terwijl ik wel 100 keer heb gezegd dat ik er wel melk in wilde. waardeloze cateraarster. maar goed, toto denk dat ze waarschijnlijk ook wat van wagens weet.

Toto kan desondanks eten als een Wolff en de rijders voelen zich ondanks hun eerdere kritiek op de auto als lammeren die naar de slachtbank geleidt worden.
      Toto ziet het allemaal schouderophalend aan en laat zijn rijders in hun eigen vet gaar koken. Waarom ook niet, budget is er genoeg.

    Nou, dan wil ik haar wel eens tegenover me hebben.
    Meerdere hebben mij willen doorgronden,maar ze zijn allemaal jankend huiswaarts gegaan na één sessie......ja, ook mannelijke psychologen.

      Daarom lopen die mannen weg natuurlijk, die zien daar 'n ding hangen wat enorm is vergeleken bij wat hun hebben....en dan heb ik het niet over m'n buik of buidel natuurlijk.
      Dat ik daar niet eerder opgekomen ben.
