Krack verwacht dat Alonso in 2026 nog voor Aston Martin rijdt

Fernando Alonso is momenteel bezig met een sterk seizoen in dienst van het team van Aston Martin. Eerder deze week maakte de renstal bekend dat ze vanaf 2026 gaan samenwerken met Honda, de Japanners vinden het geen probleem als Alonso dan nog voor het team rijdt. Teambaas Mike Krack ziet dan ook geen redenen waarom Alonso dan niet meer zou racen.

Alonso is momenteel met zijn 41 jaar de oudste coureur van het veld. Als het seizoen 2026-start zal de Spaanse tweevoudig wereldkampioen 44 jaar oud zijn, normaal gesproken is dat een leeftijd waarop een coureur al lang en breed met pensioen is. Alonso lijkt echter een tweede jeugd te hebben gevonden en Honda werd dan ook gevraagd naar een mogelijke nieuwe samenwerking met hun voormalige criticaster.

Ook Aston Martin-teambaas Mike Krack werd in Monaco gevraagd naar de toekomst van Alonso. Ook Krack is positief over de toekomst van de Spanjaard. De teambaas is enorm onder de indruk van Alonso en wordt geciteerd door Motorsportweek: "Ik denk dat er geen reden bestaan waarom hij in 2026 niet meer voor ons zou rijden. Ik bedoel, ik zie serieus echt geen reden waarom dat niet meer mogelijk zou zijn."
