Wolff niet blij met takelactie: "Hij zat vroeger zeker bij Cirque du Soleil"

In Monaco is een crash nooit ver weg en de lokale marshalls weten dan ook precies hoe ze een gestrande auto moeten opruimen. Op zaterdagochtend werd de gecrashte van Mercedes van Lewis Hamilton direct door een kraan de lucht in getild. Teambaas Toto Wolff was hier niet bepaald blij mee.

Hamilton raakte aan het einde van de derde vrije training de vangrail en kon zijn weg niet meer vervolgen. Binnen een paar minuten hadden de marshalls de auto op de juiste plek neergezet en takelde de kraan de wagen weg. Hierdoor was de vloer van de Mercedes voor iedereen zichtbaar. Daar was Mercedes niet zo blij mee, op deze manier werden er namelijk veel geheimen onthuld.

Cirque du Soleil

Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff baalde dan ook van deze actie van de mannen en vrouwen naast de baan. De Oostenrijker kon er nog wel een klein beetje om lachen en maakte er maar een grapje van in gesprek met The Race: "Degene die de kraan bestuurde heeft vroeger waarschijnlijk voor Cirque du Soleil gewerkt! Ik bedoel, als ik helemaal eerlijk ben dan begrijp ik niet waarom hoe zo moest."

Niet optimaal

Mercedes rijdt dit weekend met veel updates en de concurrentie kon nu zeer makkelijk naar de vloer kijken. Wolff was daar niet blij mee, maar hij benadrukt wel dat hij zijn woorden niet bedoeld als een uithaal naar de marshalls: "De auto stond al op het asfalt. Ze hadden de auto gewoon op een vrachtwagen kunnen zetten. In plaats daarvan laat je een auto aan alles en iedereen zien, dat was op zijn zachts gezegd niet optimaal voor ons."
