Kamp Verstappen bedankt Jumbo: "Kijken terug op een fantastische samenwerking"

Max Verstappen wordt na dit seizoen niet meer gesponsord door Jumbo. De supermarktketen maakte vandaag bekend dat ze gaan stoppen met het sponsoren van Verstappen. Het nieuws kwam niet uit de lucht vallen en ook bij team Verstappen komt het nieuws niet onverwachts. Zijn manager is Jumbo dan ook dankbaar.

Verstappen wordt al sinds het begin van zijn autosportloopbaan gesponsord door Jumbo. De supermarkt gaat hiermee nu echter stoppen omdat ze voor een andere strategie kiezen. Jumbo belandde vorig jaar in zwaar weer nadat bekend werd dat toenmalig topman Frits van Eerd mogelijk betrokken was bij een fraudezaak. Van Eerd is inmiddels vertrokken en het nieuwe bestuur heeft besloten met de mondiale sportsponsoring.

Dankbaar

Deze keuze kan op begrip rekenen van team Verstappen. De samenwerking tussen beide partijen heeft zeer lang geduurd en in gesprek met De Telegraaf spreekt Verstappens manager Raymond Vermeulen zich uit: "De familie Van Eerd en Jumbo hebben Max vanaf dag één gesteund. Dat was zeker in die tijd heel uniek te noemen. We kijken terug op een fantastische samenwerking. Na tien jaar is het ook helemaal niet vreemd om de zaak te herijken. Wij zijn vooral dankbaar en we kijken met veel plezier terug op deze jaren. Dit jaar kunnen we hopelijk nog een derde wereldtitel pakken en de samenwerking met een knaller afsluiten."

Loyaliteit

Jumbo neemt niet alleen afscheid van Verstappen, maar stopt ook met de sponsoring van de Nederlandse Grand Prix. Vermeulen is ook van mening dat de samenwerking veel verder ging. Hij spreekt dan ook over een bepaalde vorm van loyaliteit: "Ze waren er al zo vroeg bij. Dit gaat veel dieper dan alleen die sticker en de zakelijke samenwerking. We wensen Jumbo en de familie dan ook alle goeds voor de toekomst."

Waar Frits het opgepakt heeft bij Max, had Michel P de boot gemist bij Max. Frits is een aanwinst voor de motorsport geweest, qua sponsoring.

  Michel Perridon heeft in het verleden veel geprobeerd te doen voor de NL rijders.
  Tegen de tijd dat Max kwam opzetten had Michel de zaken al op een lager pitje gezet maar Frits was er als de kippen bij om het stokje over te nemen.
  De komende jaren zullen we niet zo snel meer een NL grootverdiener zien om “onze jongens” financieel te ondersteunen.
  Misschien dat defensie er brood in ziet om op deze wijze haar spotlights te pakken?
  Ze hebben daar inmiddels meer geld te besteden dan ze kunnen uitgeven en werving en selectie blijft een voortdurend zorgenkindje. De F1 en misschien wat opstapklassen zouden een breder publiek kunnen trekken.
  Ik geef toe, het is wat Amerikaans gedacht maar waarom niet.
  Max in camouflage pak over de hindernisbaan, scheurend in een armored personnel carrier (APC), op een fregat of in een Apache. Dat zou wereldwijd een hoop exposure vergaren waarmee defensie in 1 klap zichtbaar is.
  Beter dan die rare spotjes die ze nu hebben.

  Begin 2000 had defensie haar eigen Renault Clio team. In het begin werd dit volledig gerund door defensie personeel en later door profs.
  
  Uiteindelijk de nek omgedraaid omdat het imago van een dure sport is.

  Ik weet alleen dat Michel er spijt van had, achteraf, is een koe in zijn achterste kijken, had ie voor een relatief klein bedrag, op de 1e rang gezeten.

Dacht zelf aan Durex, omdat verstappen heel goed met rubber om kan gaan.

Ik denk dat rbr een heelt eind komt, tenzij ze per en max elkaar eraf rijden (zie ik niet gebeuren, is geen mercedes daar)
Als Max niet wint, dan wint per, en visa versa.
