Verstappen begrijpt McLaren-transfer Marshall

Het team van Red Bull Racing moest eerder deze week afscheid nemen van een belangrijke naam. Technisch kopstuk Rob Marshall stapt namelijk over naar het team van McLaren. Ook Max Verstappen zag Marshall het team verlaten, de Nederlander begrijpt de keuze van zijn oud-collega.

Marshall werkte zeventien jaar voor het team van Red Bull Racing. In die periode vervulde hij meerdere rollen binnen het team en was hij vooral op technisch vlak zeer belangrijk. Marshall heeft nu echter gekozen voor een nieuw hoofdstuk en begint op 1 januari 2024 bij het team van McLaren. De Britse renstal is bezig met een flinke reorganisatie op het technische gebied.

Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen zag Marshall bij zijn werkgever vertrekken. De Nederlander weet niet of Red Bull echt iets zal gaan merken van het vertrek. In gesprek met Viaplay spreekt Verstappen zich uit: "Hij zat sowieso al meer op de toekomstige projecten, dus ik vind het lastig om in te schatten hoeveel het zal uitmaken. Iedereen die bezig is met deze generatie auto's, werkt hier nog. Als iemand zo'n bod krijgt, dan snap ik natuurlijk wel dat hij overstapt. Hij is ook al in de 50 volgens mij, dus een paar jaar goed verdienen, dat snap ik wel."
