Krack reageert op wens van Alonso: "Nog meerdere jaren in F1? Dat is mooi om te horen"

Het Formule 1-team van Aston Martin beleeft een megastart van het seizoen, en staat momenteel op de derde plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap. Vooral met coureur Fernando Alonso achter het stuur weet de Britse renstal vooraan mee te vechten, en na de wens van de tweevoudig wereldkampioen om nog een paar jaar door te gaan, reageert teambaas Mike Krack nu met veel enthousiasme.

Fernando Alonso kondigde vorig jaar zijn verrassende overstap naar Aston Martin aan. Een beslissing die de F1-wereld tot een schudden bracht, maar die vandaag de dag overduidelijk de juiste is geweest. Terwijl zijn werkgever van vorig jaar, Alpine, dit seizoen opnieuw met haar openwielwagen lijkt te worstelen, claimt Alonso met zijn nieuwe team Aston Martin podium na podium.

De inmiddels 41-jarige F1-veteraan heeft zijn honger naar succes nog steeds niet weten te stillen, en nu zijn zicht op Grand Prix-overwinningen dichtbij zijn, laat Alonso weten nog wel een paar jaar langer door te willen gaan. Een wens die teambaas Mike Krack goed in de oren klinkt.

"Dat is mooi om te horen. Nog meerdere jaren – daar zouden we heel blij mee zijn. Eén van zijn belangrijkste kwaliteiten is dat hij de constante wil heeft om vooraan mee te kunnen vechten. Die motivatie zit altijd in Fernando (Alonso). Wij (het team) denken daar helemaal niet zoveel aan, als ik eerlijk mag zijn. We zien het elke race aan, en we doen elke keer weer ons best. Het is leuk om te horen, maar we hebben er nog niet te veel over nagedacht. Laten we het waarmaken", sluit Krack af.
