Alonso rekent op regen: "Houden de weerradars in de gaten"

Fernando Alonso wil aankomend weekend in Canada weer sterk voor de dag komen. De Spanjaard reed anderhalve week geleden in zijn thuisland zijn minste race van het seizoen en hij wil in Canada weer terugslaan. Hij houdt het hele weekend het weer wel goed in de gaten.

Alonso is bezig met een verrassend sterk seizoen. Hij eindigde alleen in Spanje en Azerbeidzjan niet op het podium en is veel sneller dan zijn teamgenoot Lance Stroll. Alonso staat derde in het wereldkampioenschap, maar ziet wel dat Sergio Perez langzaam uit beeld begint te verdwijnen. Zijn voorsprong op nummer vier Lewis Hamilton is inmiddels redelijk groot.

Weerradar

Alonso kijkt uit naar de Canadese Grand Prix. De Spaanse tweevoudig wereldkampioen heeft een plannetje in zijn hoofd en weet dat het kan gaan regenen. In de vooruitblik van zijn team Aston Martin spreekt Alonso zich uit: "De volgende race is in Montreal, het is een historische baan en ik heb er veel goede herinneringen aan. Vorig jaar startte ik er als tweede na een chaotische en natte kwalificatie. Het gaat dit weekend misschien weer regenen, dus we houden de weerradar in de gaten."

Updates

Aston Martin neemt een aantal updates mee naar Montreal en dat zorgt voor een positieve stemming bij Alonso. De tweevoudig wereldkampioen wil echter niet te vroeg juichen: "Het circuit is leuk en het is lastig om hier in te halen, maar het kan ook voor verrassende races zorgen. We moeten ons dus op alles voorbereiden. We nemen een paar updates mee en het is ons doel om een vlekkeloos weekend te hebben en zoveel mogelijk punten te pakken."

  Je bent te benijden met airco in het hele huis en een butler die paraat staat.
  Ik mag aannemen dat jouw schoonmoeder ook airco heeft in jouw schuurtje.
  Of mag ze met deze hete dagen bij jou in huis vertoeven @Larry?
  Het wordt nog warmer vanaf zaterdag. Warmer en broeierig.

  Ik heb m'n visparaplu en mobiele airco al in de hoogste staat van paraatheid gebracht, en de koelkast ook al vol liggen met Hertog Jan. Dus Zaterdag hoef ik alleen maar een bull gehaktballen te draaien, en een kilootje spare ribs te marineren.

  Schoonmoeder blijft in de schuur zonder airco, anders wordt het te verwarrend voor haar.
  We moeten ook zuinig zijn met energie voor het klimaat, vandaar daar geen airco, maar het schuurtje staat een deel van de dag in de schaduw dus er wordt wel aan haar gedacht. Het blijft toch je schoonmoeder hè…

  Fijn om te weten dat je schoonmoeder door de schaduw tenminste nog een beetje verkoeling krijgt, we begonnen ons toch voorzichtig al een beetje zorgen te maken maar gelukkig is er nycks aan het handje.

Gaat een natte kwalificatie zaterdag worden met 10-15mm regen! Zondag ook bewolkt, maar niet heel veel regen verwacht, kijk er naar uit!
