Stroll veilt speciale helm voor slachtoffers bosbranden Canada

Aston Martin-coureur Lance Stroll rijdt dit weekend in Canada zijn thuisrace. Stroll kiest in Montreal voor een speciaal helmontwerp in de kleuren van de Canadese vlag. Na afloop van het raceweekend zal hij deze echter gaan veilen om geld op te halen voor het goede doel.

Grote delen van Canada worden namelijk geteisterd door ernstige bosbranden. Vooral in de regio Quebec zijn de branden zeer hevig. De bosbranden zorgden voor grote rookwolken die voor slechte luchtkwaliteit zorgden in delen van Canada en de Verenigde Staten. Men vroeg zich heel eventjes af of de Grand Prix van dit weekend wel door kon gaan, maar al snel werd duidelijk dat hier geen problemen waren.

Stroll heeft de situatie in zijn thuisland op de voet gevolgd en heeft besloten om zijn speciale helm, raceschoenen en overall te veilen voor het goede doel. Na afloop van het Canadese Grand Prix-weekend worden deze objecten van de hand gedaan en worden de opbrengsten gedoneerd aan het Canadese Rode Kruis. In een video op sociale media legt Stroll uit wat de bedoeling is en spreekt hij zijn medeleven uit met de slachtoffers van de branden.

  Tja, een zoon van een miljardair, die met het veilen van z'n helm in essentie natuurlijk niets meer dan een ander financieel laat bijdragen aan de situatie..
  en niet hijzelf..

  maar goed, ik verwacht toch dat de familie Stroll zelf ook wel een flink aantal miljoenen aan duiten in het collecte-zakje heeft gedaan..

Zeer armoedig. Kan me herinneren dat Verstappen en Hamilton allebei minimaal 5 ton doneerden na de bosbranden in Australië. Die waren wel wat heviger maar toch, je poeplap trekken staat toch wat sympathieker.
