De Vries moet wennen: "Zonder de regen al geen grip"

Nyck de Vries maakt dit weekend kennis met het Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. De Vries werd gehinderd door de zeer korte eerste vrije training en merkte dat er weinig grip was in de tweede vrije training. Hij verwacht dat hij vandaag veel werk moet verrichten en dat hij moet afwachten hoe het gaat op een natte baan.

De Formule 1 werd gister gehinderd door problemen met de camerasystemen van de lokale organisatie. Doordat deze systemen niet goed functioneerden, kon men bij race control de situatie op de baan niet goed in de gaten houden. VT1 viel in het water en in de anderhalf uur durende tweede training kwam De Vries niet in actie in de kletsnatte laatste minuten van de sessie.

Dat betekent dus dat hij vandaag voor het eerst kennis zal gaan maken met een nat Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. In het persbericht van zijn team AlphaTauri spreekt hij zich uit: "We zullen weer andere omstandigheden gaan zien aangezien er regen is aangekondigd. We moeten dus veel werk gaan verrichten. De baan is heel erg anders vergeleken met Barcelona. Het is hobbeliger, krapper en met minder grip. Ik moet hier aan wennen en de juiste veranderingen doorvoeren. We hebben geen rondjes gereden in de regen, maar we hadden nu a geen grip."
