Vasseur kondigt vergadering aan over kwalificatiedrama Leclerc

Het team van Ferrari kende in Canada wederom een teleurstellend raceweekend. In de kwalificatie ging de strategie bij Charles Leclerc volledig verkeerd. Hij werd in Q2 op de verkeerde banden de baan opgestuurd waardoor hij in die sessie afviel. Hij was woedend en teambaas Frédéric Vasseur geeft aan dat er voor vandaag een extra overleg gepland staat.

De kwalificatie op het Circuit Gilles Villeneuve werd verreden onder natte omstandigheden. In Q2 droogde de baan snel op en kozen veel coureurs voor de softs. Leclerc wilde dat ook doen, maar Ferrari weigerde dat en liet hem een banker lap rijden op de inters. Daarna kwam hij wel naar buiten op de softs, maar op dat momenten was het weer aan het regenen. Hierdoor kon hij geen snellere ronde noteren en viel hij af.

Leclerc reageerde woedend over de boordradio en bij Ferrari kregen ze die emoties ook mee. Teambaas Frédéric Vasseur geeft aan dat Leclerc later rustiger was, maar dat men de strategie wel gaat bespreken. Bij Motorsport.com was Vasseur duidelijk: "We moeten het onderzoeken. Dinsdag bespreken we de boel. Zijn opmerkingen kunnen altijd beter. Het is wel zo dat de eerste indruk niet altijd de beste is. We hebben een goed gesprek gehad met Charles en hem een globaal beeld gegeven van wat er gebeurde. Daarna was hij veel rustiger."

    Tactisch is de zaak nog niet goed geregeld bij Ferrari.
    Nog steeds te veel verkeerde inschattingen.
    Als ze betere aansluiting vinden op racepace en tactisch verbeteren, dan komen de resultaten ook wel weer.
    Maar vraag me af hoe lang ze daarvoor nodig hebben.

      Om strategisch alles goed te doen, moeten ze ook een auto hebben waar de rijders de strategie mee kunnen uitvoeren. Ook moeten de rijders in vorm zijn. Zeker Leclerc is hopeloos uit vorm helaas. Hoewel afgelopen race er beter uit zag.

      Het is echt veel eenvoudiger om met rijders als Verstappen en Hamilton, maar ook een in vorm zijnde Leclerc, een goede strategie te bedenken. Zodra er iets niet goed is dan gaat zelfs de beste strategie mis.

      Iedereen roept dat Ferrari spot on was afgelopen race. Maar de enge reden was dat de banden goed bleven. Was dit niet gebeurd, dan had iedereen gekoerd. Tactisch wordt het vanzelf beter als de auto in de race ook goed gaat.
