Positieve Verstappen ziet geen problemen: "Goede dag voor ons"

Max Verstappen kende een positieve eerste dag van het Britse Grand Prix-weekend. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur was het snelste in allebei de vrije trainingen en kende geen problemen. Na afloop sprak hij zelf van een positieve en sterke vrijdag op het circuit van Silverstone.

Verstappen begon de dag goed en was in de eerste vrije training bijna een halve seconde sneller dan zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez. In de tweede training waren de verschillen veel kleiner, maar heerste Verstappen alsnog. Hij maakte geen foutje en klaagde over de boordradio alleen over een gebrek aan grip, het was een euvel waar meerdere coureurs last van hadden.

Glad

Na afloop van de tweede vrije training overheerste er vooral tevredenheid bij Verstappen. De Nederlander deelde zijn gedachten met Verstappen: "Ik denk dat het beste een goede dag was voor ons. Het was in het begin best glad, maar ik denk dat dit komt door de hoge bandendruk waarmee wij moeten rijden. Dat is voor iedereen hetzelfde. Het maakt het iets moeilijker op racesnelheid, maar over het algemeen presteert de auto heel goed en daar ben ik blij mee."

Het weer

Verstappen liep dan ook niet tegen andere problemen aan. De Nederlandse coureur was tevreden, maar wil nog niet te vroeg gaan juichen. De dag van morgen kan er immers compleet anders uit zien: "Over het algemeen presteerden we sterk in allebei de vrije trainingen. We konden ons hele programma afwerken en ook onze long runs gingen goed, het was erg positief. We zullen zie hoe het weer morgen uitpakt. We willen de auto nog een beetje verbeteren, maar vandaag was een top dag."
