Gasly gaat FIA om opheldering over regels verzoeken: "Vraag gewoon om consistentie"

Alpine-coureur Pierre Gasly wil in gesprek met de FIA gaan. De Fransman raakte gefrustreerd omdat tijdens de Britse Grand Prix concurrent Lance Stroll hem buiten de baan inhaalde, en daar geen consequenties aanhingen. Volgens Gasly is het doel van het gesprek om simpelweg orde op zaken te stellen.

Tijdens Grand Prix nummer elf van het seizoen kwamen Pierre Gasly en Lance Stroll meermaals tot een samenkomen. Gasly probeerde zijn positie ten opzichte van de Aston Martin-coureur te verdedigen, maar moest na het duel bij Stowe toch Stroll voor zich laten. Gasly deed echter zijn beklag over de manier hoe Stroll de positie van hem afpakte, want volgens de Alpine-coureur overschreed de Aston Martin-coureur de tracklimits.

De positie weer aan Gasly teruggeven deed Stroll echter niet, en aangezien de raceleiding besloot om Stroll's rondetijd van die desbetreffende ronde vanwege tracklimits te verwijderen, raakte Gasly gefrustreerd dat de Canadees geen penalty op z'n bord kreeg. Om opheldering te vragen, is Gasly nu van plan om in gesprek met de FIA te gaan.

"De regels moeten kristalhelder zijn, aangezien we aan het racen zijn op snelheden van 350 km/u. Vorige week (bij de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix) werden we nog voor overtredingen bestraft waar we voor ons gevoel niet goed voor zijn gewaarschuwd."

"In deze situatie dacht ik dat hij (Stroll) de positie aan mij terug zou geven, aangezien hij buiten de baan terechtkwam. Vervolgens spendeerde ik de daaropvolgende drie ronden in zijn kielzog, terwijl ik die positie gewoon terug had moeten hebben. Het enige waar ik naar vraag is consistentie. Als het (de move van Stroll) is toegestaan, prima. Maar dan moet het voor iedereen toegestaan zijn", concludeert Gasly.

Ik ben het helemaal eens met Gasly. Maar zolang de FIA geen vaste stuwartsen aanstelt om die taak een heel seizoen op zich te nemen, blijft de kans op inconsistente beslissingen en straffen een heel stuk hoger imo.

En waarom zit stuwarts Connolly daar zo vaak? Dat is toch echt wel de meest incon... [Lees verder]

Ik ben het helemaal eens met Gasly. Maar zolang de FIA geen vaste stuwartsen aanstelt om die taak een heel seizoen op zich te nemen, blijft de kans op inconsistente beslissingen en straffen een heel stuk hoger imo.

En waarom zit stuwarts Connolly daar zo vaak? Dat is toch echt wel de meest inconsistente aller inconsistenten gebleken! Doe mij maar kerels als Hakkinnen en Kristensen op dat soort functies, dat zijn tenminste echte ex-racers bommetjevol echte race ervaring die ik in alles 34 keer hoger inschat dan zo'n flapdrol.

  Connolly bestaat niet. Connelly daarentegen is één van de 4 vaste voorzitters van de stewards. Daarom is hij er regelmatig bij. Hij heeft bovendien verschillende rollen binnen de FIA, al sinds 1989.

  Heb er een heel draadje aan besteed in gesprek met Mustfeed. Ben het ook eens met Gasly. Ook omdat in mijn ogen deze situatie een schoolvoorbeeld is van leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

Ik dacht misschien omdat hij zoveel stafpunten had, maar dat is niet meer zo zag ik.

Op dit moment is het dus zo dat er niemand écht op het randje van de afgrond balanceert wat betreft de beruchte strafpunten.

Bij Gasly stonden er acht achter zijn naam, maar sinds (10 juli 2023) zijn er drie strafpunten vervallen.

Ik denk dat de stewards hier niets mee gedaan hebben, omdat Gasly zelf als eerste in de fout ging, door Stroll buiten de baan te duwen. Volgens de overtaking guidelines van de FIA moet je ruimte geven aan iemand die aan de buitenkant inhaalt en er helemaal naast zit.

De tweede keer, toen Stroll straf kreeg voor de botsing, zat hij er nog niet helemaal naast toen hij buiten de baan geduwd werd, zoals ook in het decision document staat, waardoor dit Stroll aangerekend werd.
