Krack ziet Alonso als soort 'supermens': "Nog steeds diep onder de indruk"

Met zijn 42 levensjaren is Fernando Alonso een modern fenomeen in de paddock van de Formule 1. De tweevoudig wereldkampioen lijkt met zijn uitgebreide levenservaring geen grip en snelheid op het circuit te verliezen, en daar staat Aston Martin-teambaas Mike Krack blijvend met verbazing naar te kijken.

Maar liefst zesmaal wist Fernando Alonso in 2023 tot nu toe op het podium te eindigen. De Spanjaard kon de snelheid van zijn AMR23-bolide met gemak ontgrendelen, waardoor hij na de eerste seizoenshelft en een recentelijke performancedip van zijn team op de derde plaats in het rijdersklassement verkeert.

Alonso is met een ruime voorsprong de oudste F1-coureur die op de grid staat, waarbij Lewis Hamilton op zo'n vier jaar achterstand hem volgt. De voormalig teamgenoot van Hamilton wordt dit seizoen in complimentjes gehuld vanwege zijn blijvende honger naar succes en snelheid, en zijn sterke karakteristieken valt Aston Martin-teambaas Mike Krack op:

"Dit heb ik nog nooit eerder gezien", begint Krack tegenover Racefans. "Maakt niet uit welke coureur of in welke raceklasse – zoiets heb ik nog niet eerder meegemaakt. Ik ben nu nog steeds onder de indruk van de eerste races die wij met hem hebben gehad." Is Alonso een 'supermens', vraagt Racefans: "Dat is denk ik wel een goede beschrijving", antwoordt Krack.

  OT. Alonso heeft het nog steeds, men kijkt steeds naar zijn leeftijd. Ik zeg, kijk gewoon naar de prestaties, dan zie je toch genoeg.
