Horner looft onder druk staande Verstappen: "Dat geeft hem energie en motivatie"

Max Verstappen maakte vandaag veel indruk in de kwalificatie op het circuit van Zandvoort. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur pakte de pole position en was ruim een halve seconde sneller dan de rest van het veld. Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner klapt zijn handen stuk en omschreef de kwalificatie als 'typisch Max'.

Verstappen gold voorafgaand de kwalificatie al als de grote favoriet. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur kreeg te maken met stevige concurrentie waardoor men zich eventjes afvroeg of het een spannende strijd zou gaan worden. Met zijn laatste rondje maakte Verstappen echter een einde aan die verhalen. Zijn tijd was een halve seconde sneller dan de tijd van nummer twee Lando Norris.

Teambaas Christian Horner was heel erg trots op het resultaat van Verstappen. De Britse teambaas applaudisseerde en deelde de complimenten uit in gesprek met Viaplay: "Dit is typisch Max. Hier had hij te maken met druk en had hij veel motivatie, hierdoor lijkt het alsof hij alleen nog meer energie krijgt. Op dit circuit was de marge vorig jaar minder dan één tiende. In deze omstandigheden was het een ander verhaal. Hier maakte de coureur echt het verschil. Niet alleen in de snelle ronde. Kijk naar hoe hij zich klaarstoomde, die outlap. Het was zeer indrukwekkend!"

  Zeker op deze baan met deze omstandigheden. Foutjes worden gelijk afgestraft en met volledige druk erop zo een ronde. De coureurs die NA hem ronde voltooide niet eens close.
  
  Zou @DutchF1 nu ook zo lovend zijn als destijds in het mercedes één-twee tijdperk?
