Aston Martin vindt oorzaak problemen Stroll

Lance Stroll beleefde een enorm tegenvallende vrijdag in Monza. De Canadese Aston Martin-coureur stond zijn auto in de eerste vrije training af aan rookie Felipe Drugovich en zijn tweede vrije training duurde slechts een paar minuten. Teambaas Mike Krack laat weten dat ze de oorzaak van de problemen hebben gevonden.

Aston Martin behoort in Monza niet tot de grote favorieten. De Britse renstal kwam vorige week in Zandvoort weer goed voor de dag, maar in Monza zijn andere teams overduidelijk sneller. Red Bull Racing, Ferrari en ook het verrassende McLaren vormen momenteel nog de top van het veld. Het verzamelen van data was van belang, maar door het vroege wegvallen van Stroll kwam alle druk op de schouders van Fernando Alonso te liggen.

Alonso noteerde de achtste tijd, maar reed slechts 16 rondjes. Ook de problemen van Stroll kwamen niet als geroepen, maar men weet nu wel wat er aan de hand was. Aston Martin-teambaas Mike Krack legde het uit in gesprek met de Britten van Sky Sports: "Jammer genoeg kregen we tijdens zijn allereerste getimede rondje een probleem met zijn brandstofsysteem. Daardoor kwam zijn sessie tot een vroeg einde. We zijn ernaar aan het kijken en we willen het voor morgen fixen."
