Wolff heeft hoge verwachtingen: "De strijd is enorm close"

Het team van Mercedes wil aankomend weekend in Singapore gaan toeslaan. Na een tegenvallende double header hoopt men beter voor de dag te komen in de straten van Singapore. Teambaas Toto Wolff is positief gestemd en hij stelt dat de verschillen op het circuit van Marina Bay klein zullen zijn.

Het team van Mercedes is niet bepaald sterk aan de tweede seizoenshelft begonnen. In Zandvoort gokte Mercedes verkeerd met de regenbanden waardoor Lewis Hamilton en George Russell een inhaalrace moesten rijden. Op het circuit van Monza was Mercedes overduidelijk het derde team, maar liepen Hamilton en Russell wel allebei tegen een tijdstraf aan. In Singapore willen ze nu scoren.

Zwaar

Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff is van mening dat er veel mogelijk is in de straten van Singapore. De Oostenrijker spreekt zich erover uit in de vooruitblik van Mercedes: "We hebben genoeg tijd gehad om de double header te bespreken en nu gaan we verder met de volgende. Singapore vormt een unieke uitdaging voor elk team. De hete en vochtige weersomstandigheden zijn zwaar voor de coureurs, auto's en medewerkers. Het is een hobbelige baan en er zijn best wat uitdagingen met de nieuwe lay-out. Het maakt het rondje veel sneller en het is wat fijner voor de banden."

Wolff verwacht dat het zeer spannend gaat worden in de straten van Singapore. De Oostenrijker heeft hoge verwachtingen van de strijd met de concurrentie: "De strijd met onze naaste rivalen is echt enorm close. Het is lastig om te voorspellen hoe het er uit gaat zien. Het is in ieder geval zo dat wij normaal gesproken beter voor de dag komen op circuits met hoge downforce, dus we hopen dat we competitief zijn."

  gewoon blij zijn met een podium.deed ik ook toen Mercedes dominant was.je moet toch ergens vreugde uit halen.... eerlijk gezegd vond ik dat spannender/leuker.nu is het heel blijven en winnen.
