Bottas lacht om geruchten: "Dat is allang rond"

Valtteri Bottas rijdt sinds vorig jaar voor het team van Alfa Romeo. De prestaties van de Fin zijn niet zo goed als gehoopt, maar dat komt mede ook door de tegenvallende bolide van zijn team. Bottas voelt zich goed bij het team en hij geeft aan dat hij in de nabije toekomst ook gewoon voor de Zwitserse renstal rijdt.

Bottas maakte vorig jaar de overstap van het topteam van Mercedes naar Alfa Romeo. Hij was in zijn eerste jaar veel sneller dan zijn teamgenoot Guanyu Zhou en ook dit jaar komt hij regelmatig aardig voor de dag. Bottas tekende bij zijn overstap een langdurig contract, maar het werd nooit echt duidelijk tot wanneer hij onder contract stond bij het team. Er gingen geruchten rond over een tweejarige deal met de optie voor nog een jaar.

Dit zou dus betekenen dat Bottas voor 2024 nog iets moet tekenen. Volgens de Finse coureur klopt daar echter helemaal niets van, dat werd vandaag ook bevestigd aangezien Alfa Romeo de line-up niet aanpast. In gesprek met zijn landgenoten van Ilta Sanomat deelt Bottas zijn toekomstplannen: "Ik hoef voor volgend jaar helemaal niets aan te kondigen. Ik heb een contract voor volgend jaar, dat is allang rond. Op een gegeven ogenblik zullen we wel gaan praten over de periode daarna. Alfa Romeo gaat wel weg, maar er is nog geen nieuwe naam voor 2024. Misschien wordt gewoon Sauber, maar dat hangt ook af van of er een grote titelsponsor komt."
