Leclerc rekent zich niet rijk: "Concurrentie heeft niet alles laten zien"

Het team van Ferrari kende een zeer sterke vrijdag in Singapore. Carlos Sainz en Charles Leclerc eindigden in beide vrije trainingen bovenaan de tijdenlijst, daarnaast waren ze ook veel sneller dan de concurrentie. Leclerc wil echter nog niet de polonaise lopen, hij verwacht veel van de concurrentie.

Ferrari was in de eerste twee vrije trainingen veel sneller dan de rivalen van Red Bull Racing en Mercedes. Red Bull viel tegen in Singapore. Max Verstappen en Sergio Perez hadden veel last van overstuur en ze moesten bijna een seconde toegeven op de snelste tijden van Ferrari. Bij Red Bull verwachtte men al een zwaar weekend en het heeft er alle schijn van dat deze voorspellingen nu echt uit gaan komen.

Ferrari-coureur Charles Leclerc was blij met de resultaten op de vrijdag, maar hij denkt niet dat het een walk in the park gaat worden. In gesprek met de Italiaanse sportkrant La Gazzetta dello Sport is hij duidelijk: "Onze auto oogt competitiever dan we hadden gedacht. We moeten alleen niet te vroeg gaan juichen, want ik denk dat onze tegenstanders hun echte snelheid nog niet hebben laten zien. Aan mijn kant van de garage gaan we hard werken aan de balans en ik weet zeker dat we nog een paar dingen gaan aanpassen."
