Red Bull-complimenten voor Lawson: "Echt een super job"

Het team van Red Bull Racing kende afgelopen weekend een tegenvallende race in de straten van Singapore. Toch schitterde er één coureur uit de Red Bull-stal. AlphaTauri-invaller Liam Lawson kwam als negende over de finish en volgens Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner heeft hij geweldig gedaan.

Lawson zit sinds de derde vrije training in Zandvoort achter het stuur van de tweede AlphaTauri. In Singapore scoorde hij WK-punten door als negende te finishen. Hij deed het niet alleen beter dan zijn teamgenoot Yuki Tsunoda, hij was ook de eerste coureur in deze auto die punten wist te pakken. Eerder dit seizoen wisten Nyck de Vries en Daniel Ricciardo immers geen enkel WK-puntje te pakken in de bolide.

Veel mensen hopen dat Lawson volgend seizoen een permanent zitje krijgt in de Formule 1. Bij AlphaTauri-eigenaar Red Bull is men in ieder geval te spreken over de stuurmanskunsten van Lawson. Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner deelt in gesprek met Viaplay complimentjes uit: "Echt een super job! Hij heeft het geweldig gedaan in de auto, hij racete echt heel erg hard. Ik denk persoonlijk dat iedereen bij Red Bull echt enorm onder de indruk is van wat hij dit weekend heeft gedaan. Hij maakt een sterke indruk van zichzelf."

Yuki doet het dit seizoen niet eens zo slecht en Liam heeft een prima start in de F1 meegemaakt, Marko heeft genoeg om over na te denken en misschien moet RB toch maar afscheid nemen van de 'bejaarde' Ricciardo...

    Die gaat na 2024 Perez vervangen bij RB. Wellicht nog wel eerder.

      Zou een logische stap zijn, het RB huis getrouw.

      Wat deze jongen laat zien op het meest fysieke circuit van de kalender is op zijn minst bewonderingswaardig te noemen. Op zo een korte termijn met die wagen, ongekend circuit, verschillende grip niveaus en foutloos presteren onder druk zowel in Q als R in je 2de F1 race valt niet te onderschatten Naast Piastri een rookie om in de gaten te houden en die zijn plaats op de F1 grid zeker verdient.

    Hummaal mee eens! Niks aan toe te voegen, alleen jammer dat Yuki nu de zwarte Piet krijgt (al vind ik hem ook niet de sterkste) Yuki werdt buiten zijn schuld geëlimineerd door Perez

      Lawson rijdt na een paar races al net zo goed als Yuki, of zelfs al beter.
      Dat zegt toch genoeg? Nog even Yuki vergelijken met Ricciardo en dan de beste kiezen.

    Doet het erg goed, slecht nieuws voor Ricciardo. Ik zie voor Yuki geen bedreiging, ik schat in dat Liam en Yuki aan elkaar gewaagd zijn. Heeft RBR toch nog een prima duo aan rijders van waaruit doorstroming naar Red Bull Racing mogelijk is.
    Ik zie het wel gebeuren: Liam naast Perez in 2025, jammer voor Max ;-)
