Perez tevreden ondanks grote verschillen: "Interessante dag"

Het team van Red Bull Racing kende een goede eerste dag van het raceweekend in Japan. Max Verstappen was in de eerste twee vrije trainingen oppermachtig, maar zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez bleef een beetje achter. De Mexicaan was toch zeer te spreken over zijn dag.

Perez sloot de eerste vrije training af op de elfde tijd, hij was 1,3 seconden langzamer dan zijn teamgenoot Verstappen. In de tweede vrije training ging het iets beter met Perez, hij noteerde ditmaal de negende tijd en hij moest nu een ruime seconde toegeven op zijn teammaat. Het zorgt voor vraagtekens bij de volgers van de sport, maar Perez lijkt zich geen zorgen te maken over zijn resultaten.

Na afloop van de tweede vrije training was hij namelijk opvallend positief over zijn eerste dag op het circuit van Suzuka. De Mexicaan sprak zich uit bij de internationale media: "Het was een interessante dag. Ik denk dat we vanochtend een probleempje hadden met de balans. We weten heel goed welke kant we op meten gaan en het ziet er zeker veel beter uit dan vorige week. Ik kijk uit naar de kwalificatie omdat de degradatie hier nogal hoog lijkt te zijn, vooral met de verwachte temperaturen. Ik denk dat we hier in de kwalificatie en de race sterk zullen zijn."
