Verstappen voelt geen druk: "Dan kunnen we het hele weekend feesten"

De kans is zeer groot dat Max Verstappen dit weekend wereldkampioen wordt in Qatar. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur heeft al genoeg aan een goede prestatie in de sprintrace van morgen. Verstappen voelt geen spanning en het maakt hem niet uit dat hij al kampioen kan worden op de zaterdag.

Het was dit jaar niet de vraag of Verstappen wereldkampioen zou worden, het was eerder de vraag wanneer Verstappen kampioen zou worden. Het lijkt er dus op dat hij dat dit weekend in Qatar voor elkaar gaat krijgen. Hij kan zijn derde wereldtitel op rij gaan pakken en dat is iets wat nog maar heel weinig is gebeurd in de geschiedenis van de koningsklasse van de autosport.

Trillen

Verstappen maakt zich daar echter niet druk om. De Nederlandse Red Bull-coureur kan er wel om lachen als hem wordt gevraagd of hij druk voelt. In gesprek met de internationale media spreekt hij zich lachend uit: "Ik sta te trillen! Nee, we hebben een geweldig jaar en we willen dit weekend gewoon weer winnen. Natuurlijk weet ik dat als ik dat op zaterdag doe, ik dan al kampioen ben. We focussen ons echter op het werk en dat is een gewoon weekend hebben."

Zaterdag

Het feit dat Verstappen al op zaterdag wereldkampioen kan worden, valt niet bij iedereen in de smaak. De Nederlander maakt zich daar niet zo druk om: "Dat is in ieder geval voor mij geen probleem! We kunnen dan het hele weekend gaan feestvieren! Ik denk dat we hier in ieder geval snel zijn. We hebben echter maar één training, dus we moeten direct snel zijn. Met de auto zit het wel goed, dat weten we. Normaal gesproken doen we dus mee om de prijzen."

Nou ik ben er helemaal niet gerust op. Slaap al weken slecht. Er kan van alles gebeuren waardoor zijn teammaat er met de titel vandoor gaat. Het scheelt praktisch niks. Nagelbijtertje dit weekend. Een regelrechte thriller.

Die titel komt vanzelf. Zelfs als hij dit seizoen niet meer zou kunnen rijden zie ik Perez niet maximaliseren. Gewoon lekker genieten en de overwinningen pakken. Record van 15 overwinningen kan hij nog aanscherpen en het percentage overwinningen wat volgens mij nog op naam van Schumacher staat.
