Wolff wil Red Bull voor 2026 verslaan

Het team van Mercedes wil er alles aan doen om in de nabije toekomst weer mee te kunnen vechten om de zeges. De Duitse renstal heeft nu nog een flinke achterstand op Red Bull Racing. Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff is echter hoopvol, hij denkt dat zijn team concurrent Red Bull voor 2026 kan verslaan.

Mercedes was jarenlang de sterkste renstal in de Formule 1, maar sinds vorig jaar is dit niet meer het geval. Ze hebben het lastig met het nieuwe reglement en ze hebben sindsdien slechts één Grand Prix gewonnen. Red Bull is nu oppermachtig in de Formule 1 en dat zorgt voor de nodige frustratie bij Mercedes. De twee renstallen vochten in 2021 immers een titanenduel uit en Mercedes wil zo snel mogelijk weer gaan domineren.

Achter de schermen wordt hard gewerkt aan de auto voor het aankomende seizoen. Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff toont zich strijdbaar in gesprek met La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Ik zou niet in deze sport zitten als ik niet zou denken dat we Red Bull al voor 2026 kunnen verslaan. Bedenk even welke stappen Aston Martin in de winter heeft gezet en welke sprongen McLaren heeft gemaakt. Als wij drie of vier tiende vinden, dan doen we mee. We weten dat er meer in onze auto zit, meer dan we tot nu toe hebben gezien. We zijn er alleen nog niet achter hoe we dit moeten bereiken."

      Ik snap hun probleem wel. En ook dat Toto dat niet ziet.
      Zowel bij Toto als zij. Coureurs is er sprake van een te groot ego en die ego's stappen ook telkens in als Lewis en George instappen. Tja en dat scheelt gewicht.🤔😉
