Verstappen haalt inspiratie uit GT-switch Valentino Rossi

Het is geen geheim dat Max Verstappen een groot fan is van andere autosportklassen. De drievoudig wereldkampioen Formule 1 kijkt om zich heen en hij ziet veel interessante mogelijkheden voor de toekomst. Verstappen is groot fan van de GT-racerij en hij ziet een soortgelijke loopbaan als die van Valentino Rossi wel zitten.

Verstappen is momenteel nog wel eventjes actief in de Formule 1. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur is dit jaar bezig met een zeer succesvol seizoen waarin hij zijn derde wereldtitel pakte. Verstappen deed dat op een extreem dominante manier, hij won slechts Drie Grands Prix niet en hij stond vrijwel elk weekend op het podium. Er zijn nog vijf races te gaan, maar dat betekent niet dat Verstappen achterover gaat leunen.

Aandacht

Verstappen denk daarnaast ook aan zijn toekomst. Na zijn Formule 1-loopbaan wil hij graag blijven racen, het liefst in de endurancewereld. Hij ziet dat MotoGP-legende Valentino Rossi momenteel naam maakt in de GT World Challenge Europe. Aan La Gazzetta dello Sport laat Verstappen weten dat hij dit zeer interessant vindt: "Het zou leuk zijn om het te doen zoals Rossi doet, ik zou graag zijn wedstrijden in de GT-klasse eens willen zien. Die categorie heeft mijn aandacht aangezien we daar ook een eigen auto laten deelnemen."

Toekomst

Rossi rijdt tegenwoordig met een BMW op allerlei circuits over de hele wereld. De Italiaan heeft de overstap van de motoren naar de auto's gemaakt en Verstappen volgt dit met veel interesse. Hij steekt zijn waardering dan ook niet onder stoelen of banken: "Hij heeft alles bereikt in de MotoGP en nu heeft hij het daar enorm naar zijn zin. Hij werkt nog steeds enorm hard en hij wil opnieuw winnen. Ik denk dat ik in de toekomst naar iets soortgelijks ga zoeken."

Hij haalt Rossi aan. Die is helemaal gestopt met de Moto GP en vervolgens in de vierwielers gaan rijden. Dat ziet max wel zitten. Eerst stopen met de F1 en dan endurance wedstrijden gaan rijden.

Na 2028 zal Max denk ik zeggen, ik teken nog paar jaar bij, maar ik ga ook in andere klasse rijden, of aantal races.
