Rosberg leeft mee met Perez: "Fans zijn afhankelijk van hem"

Het team van Red Bull Racing is bezig met het succesvolste seizoen uit hun bestaan. Ze zijn met Max Verstappen wereldkampioen geworden en de Nederlander schonk Red Bull ook de constructeurstitel. De prestaties van Verstappens teamgenoot Sergio Perez vallen echter enorm tegen, Nico Rosberg leeft met hem mee.

Verstappen is bezig met een extreem sterk seizoen waarin hij slechts drie keer niet wist te winnen, Perez heeft het echter veel zwaarder. De Mexicaan won slechts twee Grands Prix en hij worstelde verder met zijn vorm en met de auto. Regelmatig viel hij al af in het tweede gedeelte van de kwalificatie, hierdoor moest hij regelmatig inhaalraces rijden. Perez staat nog wel op de tweede plaats in het wereldkampioenschap, maar zijn concurrenten zitten hem op zijn hielen.

Social media

Enkelvoudig wereldkampioen Nico Rosberg leeft mee met Perez. De Duitser ziet dat de Red Bull-coureur onder enorme druk staat. Bij Sky Sports spreekt Rosberg zich uit: "Ik heb met hem te doen. Hij voelt de druk van de hele wereld op zijn schouders. De wereld van de sociale media is ook heel kritisch op hem. Alle fans zijn afhankelijk van hem om het spannend te maken, op een bepaalde manier heeft hij ze teleurgesteld. Hij heeft het Verstappen te makkelijk gemaakt."

Hamilton

Rosberg kent het gevoel van Perez. De Duitser denkt terug aan zijn periode bij Mercedes waarin hij het moest opnemen tegen zijn teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton: "Ik had precies hetzelfde met Hamilton. Ik moest het spannend maken en ik moest ervoor zorgen dat het niet saai werd. Hamilton werd op een gegeven moment namelijk te dominant. Het is echt een heel moeilijke situatie waarin Perez nu zit."

Ik zag gisteren een kort interview met Shaq. In één van z'n mindere sportieve periodes zei hij tegen z'n vader dat hij het moeilijk had. Z'n vader zette hem in de auto en reed naar een district waar veel daklozen 'woonden'. Daar zei z'n vader tegen hem : "Ik wil nooit meer horen van jou dat je het moeilijk hebt!!" ...

Miljoenen op de bank en de sport beoefenen waarvan je houdt ... Je staat in de spotlights, en kan heel de wereld rondreizen ... En de mogelijkheden na je carrière zijn (bijna) onbegrensd ...

Och, wat hebben ze het toch slecht!! ...

Rosberg heeft ook last waar veel mensen last van hebben; het is niet zo dat Perez het Verstappen niet lastig genoeg heeft gemaakt, Verstappen rijdt in een "League of his own". Vergelijk het met Hamilton die vanaf Brazilië 2021 elke race een raket motor (met dubbele illegale DRS) gestoken kreeg en door zijn kwaliteiten + die raket motor de rest er uit liet zien alsof ze F2 reden. Dat is er nu ook aan de gang, alleen niet met raket motoren die maar 1 race mee hoeven.
