Williams-coureurs tasten in duister na matige kwalificatie

Alexander Albon en thuisrijder Logan Sargeant krabten achter de oren na de kwalificatie op Circuit of The Americas in Austin. De Williams-rijders stonden in er in de eerste vrije training nog goed bij, maar eindigden in het achterveld op P18 en P20.

"De auto was heel anders dan VT1”, begon Albon na de sessie op de website van het team: "Ik voelde me een beetje beperkt, wat kan gebeuren als de wind aanwakkert."

"Het betekende dat het heel moeilijk was om een foutloze ronde te rijden, en mijn ronde was gewoon niet zo goed. De auto was vandaag beter dan Q1, dus het is een beetje frustrerend."

Sargeant had ook voor zijn thuispubliek ook meer gehoopt en draagt mede dankzij track limits de rode lantaarn. “Jammer dat ik vandaag niet geweldig was, maar het was leuk om op eigen terrein te rijden."

"Het was een hele lastige sessie. De auto voelde vanochtend helemaal anders aan, dus het is vreemd. We zullen ernaar moeten kijken en kijken wat we morgen beter kunnen doen."
