Russell ontvangt gridstraf van drie plaatsen na blokkeren Leclerc

George Russell heeft een gridstraf van drie plaatsen ontvangen vanwege het blokkeren van Charles Leclerc in de Sprint Shootout van eerder vandaag. De Brit moest zich bij de stewards melden en het was geen verrassing dat de stewards hem als schuldige zouden aanwijzen. Hij gaat drie plaatsen naar achteren in de sprint.

Charles Leclerc kwam volle vaart bocht 19 inrijden toen hij ineens de langzame Mercedes van Russell voor zijn neus zag opduiken. Gefrustreerd liet Leclerc weten dat 'meneer Russell' een straf moest ontvangen. De stewards gaan hier nu dus in mee, zijn gridstraf geldt voor de eerste volgende sprint of race. Aangezien er een sprintrace wordt verreden, krijgt hij voor die sessie de straf. Russell kreeg niets te horen van zijn team, maar volgens de stewards moeten de coureurs zelf ook op het achteropkomend verkeer letten.
