Ricciardo droomt van nieuwe puntenfinish: "Lastig om auto in te schatten"

Na een goed weekend in Mexico hoopt Daniel Ricciardo ook in Brazilië goed voor de dag te komen. De Australische AlphaTauri-coureur heeft er veel zin in, maar hij weet nog niet precies wat hij kan verwachten van zijn auto op het circuit van Interlagos. Ricciardo wil in ieder geval weer Q3 bereiken.

Ricciardo keerde twee weken geleden in Austin terug in de Formule 1. De Australiër stond een aantal weken aan de kant met een gebroken middenhandsbeentje en in de Verenigde Staten maakte hij een redelijke comeback. Vorige week in Mexico liet hij zien dat hij het nog niet verleerd is, Ricciardo kwalificeerde zich als vierde en hij reed een zeer sterke race met de zevende plaats als eindresultaat.

Fysiek zwaar

Dit weekend wordt er weer gewerkt met het sprintformat. Ricciardo kent de gevaren van het circuit en hij legt het uit in de preview van AlphaTauri: "Interlagos is een heel kort circuit en er zijn niet zoveel bochten, je moet ze dus goed aansnijden aangezien er geen plek is om de verloren tijd goed te maken. De baan is fysiek zwaar voor de nek. Je rijdt tegen de klok in en je hebt altijd het gevoel dat je naar links gaat op deze baan. Daarnaast hebben we ook weinig grip op dit asfalt en dat maakt het ook lastig."

Inschatten

Ricciardo wil vanzelfsprekend zijn goede resultaat uit Mexico gaan herhalen op het circuit van Interlagos. De Australiër weet nog niet of dit mogelijk is: "Dit is weer een sprintweekend en ik heb er zin in. Ik heb het gevoel dat we meer vertrouwen hebben in de auto en ik denk dat we beter weten hoe we de juiste set-up moeten vinden. Ik heb nu twee races op rij gereden sinds mijn comeback, dus ik kijk uit naar de sprintrace op Interlagos. Het is heel lastig inschatten hoe onze auto het hier doet, ik heb niet genoeg races gereden om dit te weten. Ik hoop weer op Q3."

Ik snap niet dat mensen Yuki zo overhypen. Hij kan tegenover Gasly geen deuk in een pakje boter maken. Ja... tegenover De Vries leek het ineens heel wat. Maar toen kwam Lawson en was Lawson in relatief korte tijd al minstens evengoed.

Als je het aantal updates samen telt, steekt dit team er met kop en schouders bovenuit.
Om die allemaal naar behoren te doen werken vraagt enige ervaring - daar kan Ricciardo een belangrijke rol in spelen. Vorige race zagen we dat zelfs het B team aardig uit de hoek kon komen in zijn handen. Benieuwd of hij dit momentum kan vasthouden zoals hij dat in het verleden al liet zien bij AT/RB.
Stel dat hij weerom voor Checo staat op de grid, dan valt de steun voor Checo compleet weg binnen RB. Hoewel, als we eerlijk blijven, is die steun al lang in Mexico blijven hangen.

Die AT op 2200 meter hoogte doet het lekker en Daniel deed het goed idd, mss zondag ook, maar LV en AD zijn weer gewoon een prooi voor Yuki. Ik schat Yuki hoger in, alleen het onstuimige moet eruit.

  Yuki is geen topper, geen sub topper... en gaat dat ook nooit worden.
  
  Waar Ricciardo nu exact staat is lastig te zeggen, maar die is overall natuurlijk gewoon echt wel een betere coureur dan Yuki.

  Als je naar de toekomst kijkt, dan zouden ze Liam erin moeten zetten, Checo eruit, Daniel naar Red Bull.
  
  En dan maar eens kijken hoe 2024 verloopt.
  
  Het beste zou zijn Yuki ook vervangen in 2024, die heeft volgens mij al een contract, ik zie voor hem geen toekomst meer bij AT, die heeft tijd genoeg gehad om zich te bewijzen.

Ik schreef hier eergisteren dat Yuki al 1 1/2 jaar een relatie heeft met
de Senior Press Officer van SAT. Ze werkt inmiddels voor BMW.
Yuki heeft kennelijk alweer een nieuwe vriendin, dus even corrigeren.
Deze keer is het de Junior Press Officer van SAT, Jana Gattereder uit Oostenrijk,
woonachtig in Faenza waar Yuki ook woont. Hopelijk kan zij hem temmen, hahaha.
