Leclerc zag donkere wolken: "Dit heb ik nog nooit meegemaakt"

De Braziliaanse kwalificatie verliep zeer chaotisch. Vrijwel de hele sessie hing er een pikzwarte wolk boven het circuit, maar pas tijdens Q3 kwam het met bakken uit de hemel. Charles Leclerc vond het een lastige situatie, maar hij is wel tevreden met zijn tweede tijd.

De verschillen in de kwalificatie waren zeer klein en de Ferrari's leken de juiste pace te hebben gevonden. Toen het licht op groen schoot in Q3, was het echter één grote gok. Niemand wist precies wanneer het ging regen, maar zelfs zonder water was het moeilijk. Het begon flink te waaien en het zicht werd slechter. Ondanks alle nieuwe hindernissen, wist Charles Leclerc wel de tweede tijd te noteren.

Geen grip

De Monegaskische coureur haalde opgelucht adem, hij had er namelijk geen goed gevoel over. Terwijl hij schuilde voor de regen, sprak hij met interviewer van dienst James Hinchcliffe: "Ik mijn hele loopbaan heb ik nog nooit zoiets meegemaakt. Vanaf bocht vier was er geen regen, maar het was enorm lastig om de auto te besturen. Er was helemaal geen grip. Ik dacht er zelfs aan om aan het einde van de ronde naar binnen te komen. Ik ging echter gewoon door en dat was goed voor de tweede tijd. Dat was een fijne verrassing."

Racepace

Leclerc start de Grand Prix aankomende zondag vanaf een kansrijke positie. Het verschil met Red Bull was niet klein en de Oostenrijkse renstal oogde zelfs een beetje kwetsbaar. Leclerc weet echter nog niet wat hem te wachten staat: "Ik heb nog geen idee hoe de race zal verlopen. In de sprintweekenden is de racepace altijd een groot vraagteken. Ik hoop dat het goed zal gaan en dat het niet te hard zal gaan regen morgen en zondag."

Toen ik jong was liepen we honderden meters de Noordzee op toen het nog echt koud werd.

Ik snap het wel. Hij Is nog jong en heeft, qua weer nog weinig meegemaakt.
Toen ik jong was liepen we honderden meters de Noordzee op toen het nog echt koud werd.
Er kwamen ijsberen overlopen die bij ons thuis kwamen schuilen voor de kou.. dat waren tijden.. 😉

Dit is een supercell. De meest zware onweersbui die er is. Er is enorme schade op en rondom het circuit. Ik heb er ooit één gezien en hij ziet er net zo gevaarlijk uit als dat hij echt is.
