Stroll zorgt voor verrassing: "Q3 was echt heel erg tricky"

De Braziliaanse kwalificatie werd gekenmerkt door een donkere wolk en snelle Aston Martins. Na een aantal tegenvallende races, zag de pace er nu wel weer goed uit. Tot ieders verrassing werd de derde tijd niet genoteerd door Fernando Alonso, maar door Lance Stroll.

Stroll stond in de afgelopen weken onder druk. De Canadese coureur maakte een verveelde indruk, kreeg ruzie met zijn coach en hij kreeg voor dat gedrag zelfs een officiële waarschuwing. De pace zag er in de afgelopen races niet goed uit, maar in Brazilië ging het goed. Terwijl de wolken steeds donkerder werden, ging de zon schijnen voor Aston Martin. Strolls derde tijd was een flinke opsteker.

Stroll was zelf zeer blij met zijn resultaat. De Canadees moest eventjes zoeken waar hij heen moest, maar bij interviewer van dienst James Hinchcliffe was hij het zonnetje in huis: "De auto voelde de gehele sessie heel erg goed. Q3 was echt heel erg tricky. Mijn rondje was echt heel erg slecht, maar ik denk dat er veel veranderde door de omstandigheden. Ik had een paar lockups en ik miste een paar keer de apex, maar het was goed genoeg voor de top drie. Dat is een geweldig resultaat."

Tja, het blijft een merkwaardige rijder. Vandaag zat hij de hele tijd er al goed bij. Om zondag p15 te halen waarschijnlijk.

  Als ie nou eens echt liet zien dat hij gepassioneerd voor de sport is. En zich kan concentreren dan had hij er veel meer uitgehaald. Maar helaas, als en had... Dat bestaat niet in de sport.

Het is het eigenlijk een slechte versie van Perez. Hij heeft twee keer per jaar een goede race, de rest is echter zeer dramatisch.

  Als Kimi Raikkonen dit deed vond iedereen het cool. En Max is zo heerlijk nuchter en recht voor zijn raap. Stroll houdt kennelijk gewoon ook niet zo van het media-circus.

  Je hebt wat met een coureur of niet. Ik heb niks met Stroll, Kimi daarintegen vond ik geweldig.
  
  Daarnaast werd Kimi niet gepusht om F1 te gaan rijden. Bij Stroll heb ik dat gevoel wel.

Stroll is een erg bijzonder gastje. Doet me ergens wel denken aan J.Villeneuve in zn latere jaren.

Bij vlagen goed, maar met regelmaat een irritante verschijning zowel op als naast de baan.

Ik heb Lance een paar keer ontmoet en het is een heel aardige jongen. Hij is alleen enorm introvert en al die aandacht is moeilijk voor hem.

Stroll is opzich zo slecht nog niet al laat hij dat te weinig zien. Hij lijkt het allemaal tegen zijn goesting te doen.
