Wolff overweegt te investeren in Manchester United

Toto Wolff is niet alleen de teambaas van Mercedes, maar hij heeft ook een oogje voor zakelijke deals. De naam van de Oostenrijker wordt genoemd bij voetbalclub Manchester United. Wolff geeft toe dat hij misschien mee gaat doen men een bod van Ineos-eigenaar Jim Ratcliffe.

Ineos is geen onbekende naam in de Formule 1, want het bedrijf is één van de sponsoren van het team van Mercedes. Maar, ze zijn veel meer dan een sponsor van het team. Mercedes heeft namelijk drie eigenaren: het moederbedrijf van automerk Mercedes, Toto Wolff én Ineos. Wolff kent Ineos-kopstuk Jim Ratcliffe dan ook zeer goed. De steenrijke Brit staat op het punt om 25 procent van de aandelen van voetbalclub Manchester United te kopen.

Wolff geeft toe dat hij mogelijk wordt betrokken bij de deal van Ratcliffe. In Brazilië spreekt Wolff zich uit over deze zaak in gesprek met persbureau AP. Wolff laat daar weten dat hij mogelijk onderdeel wordt van het bid van Ratcliffe: "Jim heeft het traject met mij gedeeld. Ik heb veel respect voor zijn waarden en wij vertrouwen elkaar dan ook. Als we het idee hebben dat het nut zou hebben als in onderdeel wordt van de investeerdersgroep, dan zou ik daar zeker naar willen kijken."
