Horner lacht om Alonso-geruchten: "We zijn niet met hem in gesprek"

In de week voorafgaand de Braziliaanse Grand Prix ging er een bijzonder gerucht rond over Fernando Alonso. Er werd gesuggereerd dat hij mogelijk zou overstappen naar Red Bull Racing. Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner heeft de verhalen gehoord en hij ontkent dat er iets gaande is.

In de afgelopen week ging het op sociale media veelvuldig over een gerucht over Fernando Alonso. De Spanjaard zou kunnen overstappen naar Red Bull als vervanger van Sergio Perez. Perez zou op zijn beurt dan weer naar Aston Martin kunnen gaan als vervanger van Alonso. De Spaanse tweevoudig wereldkampioen reageerde in Brazilië op de geruchten en hij omschreef ze als onzin, ook dreigde hij met consequenties om dit soort verhalen in de toekomst te voorkomen.

Ook bij Red Bull Racing ontkent men deze verhalen. Teambaas Christian Horner kan er ergens wel om lachen als hij het misverstand uitlegt bij Viaplay: "Nee, hij is niet in gesprek met Red Bull. Laat dat duidelijk zijn. Er zijn geen gesprekken met Alonso. Ik denk niet dat Fernando dat zelf naar buiten heeft gebracht. Het ding is dat ik goed kan omgaan met zijn manager Flavio Briatore. Daar heb ik in Qatar een kop koffie mee gedronken met toen hadden we het over iets anders. Mensen denken dan 1+1 = 2. Ze maken het veel groter."
