Massa verwacht veel van Verstappen: "Hij kan alle records vernietigen"

Max Verstappen maakt dit seizoen veel indruk in de Formule 1. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur heeft de wereldtitel al op zak en hij verbreekt nu vrijwel elk weekend een record. Volgens Felipe Massa heeft Verstappen alles in zich om alle records te vernietigen.

Verstappen veroverde dit seizoen al zijn derde wereldtitel in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De Nederlander deed dat op een oppermachtige manier, hij won dit seizoen immers bijna alle Grands Prix. Hij maakt veel indruk op zijn collega's, analisten en andere kenners. Sommigen zijn al van mening dat Verstappen één van de beste coureurs allertijden is, maar anderen twijfelen daar nog aan.

Beste coureurs

Voormalig Formule 1-coureur Felipe Massa noemt de naam van Verstappen in eerste instantie niet. De Braziliaan spreekt zich uit in de Track Limits-podcast: "Je hebt natuurlijk coureurs die deel uitmaken van de geschiedenis van de sport zoals Schumacher en Senna en misschien ook Fangio. Ik heb laatstgenoemde nooit ontmoet, maar hij deed het natuurlijk geweldig. Zo heb je er nog wel een paar zoals Jackie Stewart. We mogen ook niet vergeten wat Lewis heeft gedaan. Hij heeft de meeste grote records in handen."

Records

Massa erkent wel dat men lastig naar de records kan kijken zonder de naam van Verstappen te noemen. De Braziliaanse coureur denkt dan ook dat Verstappen in staat is om nog veel meer records te gaan breken: "Het is een lastige vraag. Max kan zeker de nummer één zijn. Hij heeft het talent om alle records te vernietigen. Maar, zelfs als hij dat voor elkaar krijgt, blijven al die anderen ook grootheden."

Hij kan immers nooit de jongste WK worden... Vettel en Lewis waren jonger.... En ik voorspel ook dat hij nooit de oudste WK zal worden... ;)
