Ook Perez droomt van Le Mans: "Alleen als de juist kans zich voordoet"

Het is algemeen bekend dat Max Verstappen na zijn jaren in de Formule 1 wil gaan deelnemen aan de 24 uur van Le Mans. Wat zijn huidige Red Bull Racing-teamgenoot Sergio Perez wil gaan doen, is nog niet helemaal duidelijk. De Mexicaan laat weten dat hij een Le Mans-avontuur ook wel ziet zitten.

Verstappen heeft er nooit een geheim van gemaakt dat hij in de toekomst in andere klassen wil gaan rijden. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur is een groot fan van de enduranceracerij en hij heeft nooit onder stoelen of banken gestoken dat hij ooit aan de start wil verschijnen van de iconische 24 uur van Le Mans. Met wie hij wil gaan rijden, is niet duidelijk. Mogelijk kan hij zijn huidige Red Bull-teamgenoot Sergio Perez over de lijn trekken.

De Mexicaan wil graag succesvol worden in de zakenwereld, maar hij sluit een nieuwe toekomst in de autosport ook nog niet uit. In gesprek met Marca legt Perez deze ideeën uit: "Ik heb geen andere categorie in gedachten. Ik zou graag deelnemen aan de 24 uur van Le Mans, maar alleen als de juiste kans zich voordoet. Maar verder, zou ik nu zeggen dat ik geen andere race-ambities heb. Ik weet alleen niet wat er echt zal gaan gebeuren als ik de Formule 1 verlaat."

Ik vind het een goed idee van Sergio. Gun hem wel een 2024 endurance zitje. Zou graag zien dat er een echte topper naast Max gezet wordt in 2024.
