Haas rijdt met verschillende specificaties in Las Vegas

Het team van Haas is bezig met een lastige fase van het seizoen. De Amerikaanse renstal is afgezakt naar de laatste plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap en volgens teambaas Günther Steiner hebben ze nu niets te verliezen. Steiner verklapt dat het team met twee verschillende specificaties gaat rijden in Las Vegas.

Haas introduceerde in Austin een enorm updatepakket. Eerder werden deze updates omschreven als een soort b-spec, maar daar wilde Haas niets van weten. Ze hoopten een goede stap te kunnen zetten met hun geüpdatete bolide, maar niets bleek minder waar te zijn. De updates vielen tegen en ze zoeken nu naar oplossingen. In Las Vegas rijden Nico Hülkenberg en Kevin Magnussen dan ook met verschillende specificaties.

Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner onthult aan de vooravond van de Grand Prix in Las Vegas dat zijn team een opvallende beslissing heeft genomen. De Italiaanse teambaas wordt geciteerd door RaceFans: "De reden hiervoor is dat Nico zich beter voelt bij de oude versie van de auto en bij Kevin is het dan weer het tegenovergestelde. We geven ze wat ze willen, want we hebben nog twee races te gaan en we hebben niets meer te verliezen. We kunnen het wel over data hebben, maar dat hebben we al genoeg. Deze beslissing is genomen aan de hand van wat onze coureurs fijn vinden."
