Perez ziet Ferrari als grootste concurrent: "Ze zien er heel erg sterk uit"

Sergio Perez sloot de nachtelijke vrije training in Las Vegas af als snelste Red Bull-coureur. De Mexicaan noteerde de vierde tijd en hij kwam 0,820 seconden te kort ten opzichte van de snelste tijd van Charles Leclerc. Perez verwacht dan ook dat Ferrari sterk zal presteren in de rest van het weekend.

De coureurs moesten uren wachten voordat ze in actie konden komen in de tweede vrije training in Las Vegas. Door de problemen met de putdeksels in de eerste vrije training, werd de tweede sessie meerdere keren uitgesteld. Toen de coureurs eindelijk de baan op mochten gaan, was de zon allang verdwenen en lagen de meeste mensen al op één oor. Perez trapte het gaspedaal in en eindigde de sessie op de vierde plaats.

Vooruitgang

Perez was na afloop redelijk te spreken over zijn tweede vrije training. Hij had vanzelfsprekend op een beter eindresultaat gehoopt, maar aan F1 TV laat hij weten dat hij wel tevreden is. Diep in de nacht spreekt hij zich uit: "Ik denk dat we heel erg veel vooruitgang hebben geboekt naarmate de sessie vorderde. Dat is wat mij betreft het allerbelangrijkste, dus daar ben ik heel erg blij mee."

Ferrari

De snelste tijden werden in de tweede vrije training genoteerd door Ferrari-coureurs Charles Leclerc en Carlos Sainz. Perez verwacht dan ook stevige concurrentie van hen in het vervolg van het raceweekend: "Ferrari ziet er heel erg sterk uit. Als je naar hun pace en hun onboard-beelden kijkt, dan hebben ze overduidelijk iets gevonden. Maar, op de dag van de race zullen wij er zeker weer staan."

  En 2 coureurs met Fred als teambaas. Maar als klap op de Italiaanse vuurpijl ook nog eens een helebull waardeloze strategen die er geen ene kloten van kunnen.
