Verstappen ziet kansen: "Lastig om juiste banden te kiezen"

Max Verstappen is geen fan van de race in Las Vegas. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur is zeer kritisch en hij vermaakte zich ook niet tijdens de tweede vrije training. Verstappen verwacht dat de banden een grote rol gaan spelen in de aanstaande Grand Prix.

De eerste dag van het raceweekend in Las Vegas barstte van de problemen. De eerste vrije training werd vroegtijdig afgevlagd vanwege een incident met een putdeksel, de tweede vrije training werd drie keer uitgesteld en de fans moesten tribunes vlak voor de start van VT2 verlaten. Max Verstappen was ook kritisch en hij stelde dat het circuit nog steeds niet tot zijn favorieten behoorde.

Glad

Verstappen eindigde de tweede vrije training als tweede. Hij was niet te spreken over de baan, maar op Verstappen.com wees hij ook naar andere zaken: "Het circuit was erg glad. We hebben niet veel gereden in de eerste vrije training, dus het duurde wat langer om een beetje rubber op de baan te krijgen. Aan het einde van de sessie was het al wat beter. We hebben ons hele programma af kunnen werken en dat is het allerbelangrijkste."

Banden

Verstappen denkt dat een goed resultaat zeker mogelijk is voor Red Bull. De Nederlandse coureur wijst wel naar de banden: "De zachte banden zijn heel erg goed voor een rondje, maar in de long run hebben ze het zwaar. Daarom zijn we ook snel overgestapt naar de mediums. Ook dat kon wel beter. We hebben dus nog wel een paar dingen waar we naar moeten kijken, zoals hoe we de degradatie van de banden in de long runs kunnen verbeteren. Ik denk dat we er nog steeds goed uitzien ten opzichte van de concurrentie, maar het is lastig om de juiste banden te kiezen."

  @FelipeMassa#19 : Deze keer zijn de 3 zachtste banden meegenomen, de harde band nu is dezelfde band als vorige race de Medium ( als ik me niet vergis )

Er is weer een kleine Verstappen op komst. Victoria, het zusje van Max Verstappen,
is voor de derde keer in blijde verwachting en is in juni 2024 uitgerekend.
De 24-jarige Limburgse heeft al twee zoontjes [2j en 1j] en onthulde via social media
dat een derde kindje op komst is, en dus krijgt de Formule 1-coureur er volgend jaar een neefje of nichtje bij.

Morgen redelijk fijnslijpen in FP3 en de kwalificatie op de eerste 2 rijen dan komt het zondag wel goed met de onverslaanbare Max, tenzij hij door een Mercedes van de baan wordt gekegeld.
