Verstappen heeft niets geleerd: "De balans was niet goed"

Max Verstappen kwam vandaag slechts in één training in actie in Abu Dhabi. In de eerste training nam rookie Jake Dennis plaats in zijn auto en in de tweede training reed Verstappen slechts de derde tijd. Deze sessie werd verstoord door twee rode vlaggen en Verstappen heeft dan ook niet veel geleerd.

Verstappen kende een rustig begin van zijn dag in Abu Dhabi. Aangezien Red Bull Racing nog moest voldoen aan de rookie-trainingen kwamen niet Verstappen en Sergio Perez in actie in VT1, maar Formule E-kampioen Dennis en Isack Hadjar. In de tweede training nam Verstappen wel weer plaats in zijn auto, maar door crashes van Carlos Sainz en Nico Hülkenberg was er amper tijd om echt een programma af te draaien.

Balans

Verstappen baalde dan ook van de training. De Nederlandse regerend wereldkampioen had op meer gehoopt en hij spreekt zich uit bij Verstappen.com: "Ik heb niet veel geleerd vandaag. De balans van de auto was niet goed. We hadden veel onderstuur en de auto sprong vaak weg. Ik had niet verwacht om er zo ver achter te zitten. Dat is voor ons een vraagteken. We waren nog steeds derde, dus dat is niet zo slecht, maar qua balans moet het echt een stuk beter."

Pitlane

Verstappen reed de derde tijd, maar hij speelde wel een hoofdrol in de tweede training. Hij duwde zich namelijk langs meerdere auto's bij het uitrijden van de pitlane bij de herstart: "Ze moeten aan de kant. Ze rijden daar allemaal heel langzaam en ik wil gewoon naar buiten, want we hebben weinig tijd. Ze blijven in het midden van de weg rijden en als ik er voorbij wil, dan snijden ze mij af."

  Max heeft "autisme" op sportief gebied, zoals veel topsporters dat hebben. Of hij daadwerkelijk autisme heeft, dat denk ik eerlijk gezegd niet.

Aan Jake Dennis heeft hij dus ook weinig als simulator rijder.
Als die in de FP1 de balans van de auto niet heeft kunnen zetten

  Zonder Rudy lukt het max echt ook.
  Hij is in de race dusdanig sterk dat hij met een lichte onbalans nog steeds heel veel uit de auto haalt.
  
  Bovendien, Rudy kan zich vanavond in het zweet rijden in de sim maar Max moet morgen in de derde training toch echt zelf voelen of het naar zijn eigen wens is.

  Ik vind het wel wat hebben..."Gewoon opdonderen ik moet er langs" :-) Effuh serieus ik snap ook totaal niet waarom ze zo langzaam rijden daar in een VT. Kijk voor een kwali snap ik het gat zoeken wel.

  Er is niet voor niets vrij recent een regel geïntroduceerd dat langzamere rijders links moeten houden in de lane.
  
  Dat deden de Mercedes rijders en Gasly duidelijk niet.
  Dus mag Max zich er ietwat geïrriteerd best langs wringen.
