Wolff zegt sorry na scheldpartij: "We zijn rolmodellen"

Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff begon het raceweekend in Abu Dhabi met een bezoekje aan de stewards. De Oostenrijker kreeg een waarschuwing voor zijn taalgebruik een week eerder in Las Vegas. Wolff snapt zijn straf en legt uit dat hij een rolmodel is voor een jongere generatie.

Wolff en Ferrari-teambaas Frédéric Vasseur moesten zich allebei bij de stewards melden vanwege hun gedrag tijdens de teambazenpersconferentie in Las Vegas. Beide heren hadden daar het woord 'fuck' gebruikt en daar waren de stewards niet zo blij mee. Ze kregen allebei een waarschuwing. Volgens de stewards was een waarschuwing voor Wolff genoeg omdat hij te maken kreeg met een abrupte woordwisseling.

Wolff kon er achteraf wel om lachen. De Oostenrijker accepteerde zijn straf, maar hij realiseerde zich wel dat hij iets te ver was gegaan. Bij Sky Sports begon hij grappend aan zijn verhaal: "Het was fantastisch. Het was de tweede keer dat ik ergens naartoe werd geroepen. De laatste keer was in 1984 op school toen ik twaalf was. Ik denk dat we rolmodellen zijn. We vertegenwoordigen de sport en sommigen van ons hebben Engels niet als moedertaal, dus het F-woord glipt er makkelijk uit. Ik denk dat niemand waar naar wordt opgekeken door jonge mensen, dit soort taalgebruik moet gebruiken."

    Het blijft misschien makkelijk enzo, maar 2 jaar geleden op dit circuit. Toen was toto ook een fantastisch rolmodel.

    Dat hele 'rolmodel' gedoe is echt een non-topic.
