Verstappen wil seizoen afsluiten met zege: "We zullen het zien"

De laatste Grand Prix van het seizoen gaat bijna van start. In Abu Dhabi gaan de coureurs nog één keer op jacht naar een goed resultaat. Max Verstappen start de race op het circuit van Yas Marina op pole position en hij heeft goed hoop op een goed resultaat.

Verstappen kende een rommelige start van zijn weekend, maar gisteren in de kwalificatie liet hij zich weer eens zien. De Nederlander was in alle drie de sessies de snelste en zijn pole kwam eigenlijk niet in gevaar. Charles Leclerc kwam nog een beetje in de buurt, maar Verstappen mocht weer een pole bijschrijven. Vandaag zal hij op jacht gaan naar zijn zoveelste zege en zoals altijd blijft hij ijzig kalm.

Verstappen en zijn concullega's moesten voor de start van de race eerst eventjes met elkaar op de foto voor de gebruikelijke groepsfoto. Daarna namen ze plaats op de truck van de organisatie om naar de fans te zwaaien en Verstappen sprak zich daar uit: "Als je kijkt naar hoe het weekend tot dat punt ging, was het best een goede kwalificatie. Het is de beste startpositie voor de race van vandaag en hopelijk kunnen we ook een goede race gaan rijden. Normaal gesproken is onze auto heel erg goed in de race. We kunnen ook goed omgaan met de banden, dus we zullen het gaan zien."
