Tost wijst naar Vettel en Verstappen: "Dan wint Sebastian"

Franz Tost nam in Abu Dhabi afscheid als teambaas van AlphaTauri. De Oostenrijker heeft in zijn lange loopbaan met veel topcoureurs samengewerkt. Hij geeft aan dat hij Sebastian Vettel en Max Verstappen zou selecteren voor een fictief team. Hij denkt dat Vettel dan meer races zou winnen.

Als teambaas van AlphaTauri (voorheen Toro Rosso) maakte Tost veel coureurs mee uit de Red Bull-stal. Hij stond dus ook aan de wieg van de succesvolle loopbaan van Max Verstappen. De Oostenrijker speelde een grote rol in het eerste Formule 1-seizoen van Verstappen en er is dan ook nog steeds veel onderling respect. Verstappen nam dan ook op mooie wijze afscheid van Tost in Abu Dhabi.

Passie

Tost verscheen in zijn laatste weekend in de Formule 1 vaak in de media. Hij werd dan ook gevraagd welke twee coureurs hij zou kiezen voor een fictief team. Hij wordt geciteerd door Crash.net: "Vettel en Max, vanwege hun toewijding aan de sport en hun snelheid. In de eerste plaats is het talent. Je moet zeer veel skills hebben om zo'n auto te besturen. Ten tweede vanwege de passie. Ze zijn allebei enorm gepassioneerd. Kijk eens naar Max, hij rijdt ook in de virtuele wereld. Is dat niet fantastisch? Een drievoudig kampioen die thuis tegen andere racet op de computer."

Meeste zeges

Tost benoemd daarnaast nog een derde belangrijk punt: discipline. De Oostenrijker is van mening dat Verstappen en Vettel precies weten wanneer ze iets moeten doen en volgens hem is dat een zeer belangrijke factor. Tost denkt dat Verstappen de beste zal zijn in de kwalificaties. Als hem wordt gevraagd wie er meer Grands Prix zal gaan winnen, heeft hij een iets andere mening: "Dat zou Sebastian kunnen zijn."

    Doelt Tost hier op de jonge Vettel of de oudere Vettel?
    Want als hij de verwijst naar de recente Vettel dan lijkt me dit dan toch wel een super prestatie van Seb; minstens 1x per race zijn gebruikelijke 'spinnetje' doen en dan toch nog Max verslaan...

      Dat je hier wel op reageert, maar op het andere topic niet (terwijl je wel in de tussentijd op andere topics reageert, dus "k ben niet heel de dag bezig met hier reageren, aangezien ik genoeg andere dingen te doen heb" gaat niet op hier), zegt genoeg haha. Je bent zo doorzichtig als wat.

    Terwijl juist Vettel meer poles dan overwinningen had, en nooit won vanaf een positie buiten de top 3.
    Ik zou eerder Vettel meer poles toedichten, en Verstappen meer overwinningen.

    Vraag je het ze 1 op 1, dan zeggen ze : Je moet verschillende tijdperken niet vergelijken.

    En dit stukje lezen, dan is zijn conclusie ook niet verder onderbouwd. Zou je de hele achtergrond moeten weten om te snappen dat Tost gewoon heel goed met Vettel kan opschieten, oid. ?

    Als je Vettel van de eerste 6 jaar vergelijkt met Verstappen dan zou hij inderdaad winnen maar met de huidige autos heeft Vettel geen kans hoor.
