Horner trots: "Roem is Max niet naar het hoofd gestegen"

Max Verstappen kende dit jaar weer een sterk seizoen in de Formule 1. Hij werd voor het derde seizoen op rij wereldkampioen en hij maakte enorm veel indruk op de baan. Ook naast de baan maakte hij indruk op zijn team Red Bull Racing, volgens Christian Horner is Verstappen altijd een gewone jongen gebleven.

Verstappen is momenteel de grote superster van de Formule 1. De Nederlander heeft de touwtjes stevig in handen en hij geeft zijn concurrenten nauwelijks een kans om ook voor de zege te gaan. Hij werd dit jaar slechts drie keer verslagen, zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez wist twee keer te winnen en Ferrari-coureur Carlos Sainz mocht eenmaal het hoogste treetje van het podium betreden. Verder won Verstappen alle Grands Prix in 2023.

Volwassen

Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner is enorm trots op de prestaties van Verstappen. De Brit merkt in de podcast van Sky Sports op dat Verstappen nog altijd zichzelf is: "Dat is het mooie van alles, hij is eigenlijk helemaal niet veranderd. Natuurlijk is hij sinds zijn debuut bij ons volwassener geworden, maar dat enthousiasme, zijn doorzettingsvermogen, zijn mentaliteit, zijn voertuigbeheersing en zijn natuurlijke talent zijn allemaal hetzelfde gebleven."

Roem

Verstappen is uitgegroeid tot één van de bekendste sporters van de wereld, maar dat betekent niet dat hij zich anders gaat gedragen. Horner is daar ontzettend trots op: "Ook de roem is hem helemaal niet naar het hoofd gestegen. Hij is gewoon nog steeds dezelfde kerel en hij is heel erg populair in de garage. Hij zegt wat hij van dingen vindt en hij probeert geen stereotype te worden en daar kun je alleen maar respect voor hebben."

Gelukkig, is ook een behoorlijke last die je met je mee moet dragen. In USA of UK zou hij niet fatsoenlijk over straat kunnen. Zolang hij zich niet als Hamilton gaat gedragen en nuchter blijft komt het goed.

Hallo allemaal
Even iets anders.. wil graag even melden dat onze Max33 zeer zeker de beste coureur allertijden is ( en dat al op zo jonge leeftijd). kijk tis heel simpel er is niet 1 coureur die zijn eigen aantal behaalde overwinningen verbeterd. En dan heb je Max hij doet dat van 15 naar 19. Kijk respect dat checo de eerste 2 races wint. Maar anders was max 2 races voor Japan al wereldkampioen. En hij heeft dat record al in handen. Volgens mij ( maar pin me er niet op vast ) heeft hij al 19 records te pakken kennen er ook meer zijn. Maar zijn eerste GP voor Red Bull met Olaf Mol als commentator. Gruuuuuuuuluk wat een overwinning wat een mooie zege was dat zeg. En dan die race op interlagos in de regen. Van laatste plek naar dacht p3 in laatste 10 of 12 rondes. En natuurlijk heeft iedere coureur een bepaalde eigenschap maar Max heeft het allemaal. Neem het bedrag dat Red Bull moet betalen voor zijn Superlicentie dat was afgelopen seizoen al het record. Aankomend seizoen gaat hij daar dik overheen. En er is niet 1 coureur die max uit de boeken gaat rijden. En ik ga het hierbij laten. Wens jullie alle te samen een fijne nacht toe
