Kritische Verstappen begrijpt commerciële keuzes van F1-bazen

Max Verstappen was dit jaar regelmatig zeer kritisch op de top van de Formule 1. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur kraakte onder meer het sprintformat en de race in Las Vegas af. Verstappen stelt nu dat hij de commerciële beslissingen wel begrijpt, maar dat hij altijd eerlijk zal zeggen wat hij ergens van vindt.

Verstappen was al geen fan van de sprintraces, maar toen voor dit jaar het format werd aangepast werd hij zeer fel. Hij kraakte het nieuwe format af en hij was zeer kritisch. Aan het einde van het jaar was hij nogmaals extreem fel toen hij zijn mening mocht geven over de race in Las Vegas. Hij was daar vrijwel het hele weekend kritisch en volgens sommigen ging hij hier veel te ver mee.

Verstappen nuanceert na afloop van het seizoen zijn woorden van eerder dit jaar. De Nederlander laat tegenover de internationale media weten dat hij de keuzes van de Formule 1 wel begrijpt: "Het liefst zou ik op alle geweldige circuits van de wereld rijden. Dat is helaas niet mogelijk in de Formule 1 en ik begrijp die kant van het verhaal. Als je mij een vraag stelt dan is het denk ik belangrijk dat ik eerlijk antwoord geef. Dat heb ik gedaan, maar ik vind dat je het van beide kanten moet bekijken. Je hebt de sportieve en de commerciële kant. Momenteel ben ik nog blij, laat ik het zo zeggen."

Als je puur kijkt naar de meest uitdagende en mooiste circuits ter wereld zoals Spa, Suzuka, Portimao, Sepang en Mugello imo, dan is het werkelijk waar godsgeklaagd dat die niet al lang een F1 contract voor het leven hebben gekregen. Maar nee hoor, in plaats daarvan krijgen we er juist meer en meer van die flut stratencircuits, en races in die rijke olie en woestijnlanden bij, het is gewoon zum kotzen!

  Portimao is toch geen echte topper? Het was een leuke invaller tijdens Corona en een leuke baan maar niet te vergelijken met Spa. Idem voor Mugello, dat is het Zolder van Italie. Spa, Monza, Silverstone en Suzuka zijn voor mij de echte banen die niet mogen verdwijnen maar de rest is redelijk vervangbaar.

  "Idem voor Mugello, dat is het Zolder van Italie. Spa, Monza, Silverstone en Suzuka zijn voor mij de echte banen". Als het kon zou ik Monza meteen inruilen voor Mugello. Vertel mij eens wat er zo " geweldig" Is aan Monza.

  Monza is op zich geen geweldig circuit, maar het is wel anders door zijn gigantisch lage downforce en weinig bochten.

  Portimao is m.i. echt een geweldig circuit met fraaie bochten en mooi hoogteverschil. Zoveel beter dan al die vlakke stratencircuits.

  Mugello vindt ik mss het mooiste circuit wat er is.
  Niet F1 waardig ...maar toch.
  
  De circuits die wèl F1 waardig zijn vindt ik Spa, Silverstone, Suzuka en Austin de mooiste.
