Verstappen looft simcoureur Van Buren: "Hij is sneller"

Max Verstappen kende dit jaar een geweldig seizoen in de Formule 1. De Red Bull Racing-coureur presteerde zelf heel sterk, maar hij kreeg achter de schermen ook hulp van veel mensen. Verstappen zelf prijst de werkzaamheden van simcoureur Rudy van Buren.

Nederlander Van Buren is bij Red Bull Racing betrokken als simulatorcoureur. Van Buren test op de simulator bijvoorbeeld updates en aanpassingen aan de set-up uit. Van Buren en Verstappen zijn zeker geen onbekenden van elkaar, want ze kennen elkander uit de simrace-wereld. Verstappen is dan ook lovend over de werkzaamheden van Van Buren achter de schermen gedurende het succesvolle seizoen in de Formule 1.

Feedback

Verstappen dankt Van Buren dan ook als hij terugkijkt op het afgelopen raceseizoen. In de documentaire 'Near Perfect' op Viaplay spreekt Verstappen zich uit: "Ik praat best wel veel met Rudy, ook over wat we kunnen doen met de auto. Hij zit natuurlijk ook in de ontwikkeling voor volgend jaar. Ik test het, hij test het. Dan hebben we onze feedback. Soms vraag ik op hij iets kan doen of iets kan uitproberen. Dan komt hij natuurlijk terug met feedback."

Te lang

Verstappen ziet een groot talent bij Van Buren. De wereldkampioen stelt namelijk dat de simcoureur zich tijdens de simulatorsessies goed kan inleven in de rijstijl van Verstappen en Sergio Perez. Maar volgens Verstappen kan Van Buren geen meters maken in een echte Formule 1-wagen: "Rudy is meestal sneller op de sim, maar hij past niet in een Formule 1-wagen. Hij is veel te lang. Dan zit hij met zijn hoofd voor de airbox en dan krijgt de auto geen lucht. Dat is echt lastig. Rudy is 1,93 meter en ik had Albon vroeger als teamgenoot. Die is iets van 1,86 en hij had al last van zijn knieën."

En dan is er grote aandacht voor vrouwen die niet de F1 in zouden kunnen maar de vermaledijde FIA heeft de regels nog nooit zo aangepast dat de F1 ook voor lange mannen toegankelijk is.

Met Helmut Marko's opportunisme heeft Van Buren zo een zitje bij Alpha Tauri als Max dit vaker zegt.

  @ DT , Helmut is geen medische arts waar je met een verkoudheidje langs kan gaan .
  Ik had ook graag zijn titel dr. voor mijn naam willen hebben achteraf , maar ik koos meer voor de vrijheid en het vakmanschap op 16 jarige leeftijd .
  Ik had er wel de capaciteit voor , maar heb geen spijt en veel gein op het werk gehad.

Als je daarbij bedenkt dat de Nederlandse man gemiddeld de grootste ter wereld is, kun je er niet omheen dat diezelfde vermaledijde FIA er altijd alles aan gedaan heeft om Nederlands succes in de F1 te boycotten.

LeMans? Verstappen, Alonso, van Buren

Uitdaging is de zitjes en gewicht/lengte verschillen.

Regels zijn al aangepast in de F1 om grotere coureurs, die ook zwaarder zijn te compenseren.

Maar het blijft net paardenrennen, zo klein en licht mogelijke jockey aan de teugels op dat paard

  Bij LeMans is juist het gewicht een issue. De rijders worden niet door extra gewicht gecompenseerd. 10 kilo zwaarder is gewoon langzamer. Is niet anders.
