Bizar hoge score voor Verstappen bij gemiddelde finishposities

Het is geen geheim dat Max Verstappen dit jaar een geweldig seizoen kende in de Formule 1. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur werd met gemak voor het derde jaar op rij wereldkampioen en verbrak een aantal records. Wie naar de cijfers kijkt, ziet dat zijn gemiddelde finishpositie nogal opvallend is.

Na afloop van een seizoen komen er veel statistieken naar buiten, wat opvalt is dat Verstappens naam in veel lijstjes bovenaan staat. Verstappen won dit seizoen negentien Grands Prix en hij finishte slechts één keer niet op het podium. Verstappen heeft dan ook met afstand ook de beste gemiddelde finishpositie. In 2023 finishte Verstappen gemiddeld gezien namelijk op de 1,27ste positie. Het is een bijzondere score.

Hoge score

Geen enkele andere coureur komt hierbij namelijk in de buurt. Zijn Red Bull-teamgenoot Sergio Perez staat in dit klassement op de tweede plek met een gemiddelde finishpositie van 4,20. Ook Charles Leclerc en Lewis Hamilton doen het aardig met gemiddelde posities van 4,88 en 4,90. Fernando Alonso maakt de top vijf compleet met een gemiddelde positie van 5,60. Ook Carlos Sainz (5,68), George Russell (6,11) en Lando Norris (7,42) doen het aardig.

Sargeant

Een aantal coureurs heeft ook een iets minder goede gemiddelde finishpositie. Debutant Logan Sargeant staat onderaan deze lijst. De Amerikaanse Williams-coureur heeft een gemiddelde van 14,86. Hij staat daarmee vlak achter Kevin Magnussen (14,76). Alfa Romeo-coureurs Valtteri Bottas (13,36) en Guanyu Zhou (13,42) zullen zich ook even achter de oren moeten krabben.

De dominantie van Max kent geen grenzen, ten opzichte van de andere coureurs is als het ware hij racet in een andere raceklasse.

Dan is er toch iets niet helemaal correct bij het huidige puntensysteem. Op basis van punten is Leclerc namelijk 5e geworden dit seizoen, terwijl hij op basis van raceuitslag dus 3e zou zijn. En zo zijn er nog wel wat afwijkingen.

  Lijkt me minder spannend en qua bonussen per punten zou dan alles ook gigantisch op de schop moeten.
