Verstappen ziet 2024 als uitdaging: "Elk jaar is anders"

Max Verstappen kan in 2024 voor het vierde jaar op rij wereldkampioen worden in de Formule 1. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur geldt nu al als de titelfavoriet voor het aanstaande jaar. Verstappen weet zelf nog niet hoe dominant Red Bull zal zijn in het komende seizoen.

Verstappen was dit jaar opvallend dominant in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Hij won een recordaantal Grands Prix, hij had het hoogste winstpercentage ooit en hij werd al in Qatar voor het derde seizoen op rij wereldkampioen. Verstappen was daar zeer tevreden mee, maar zijn resultaten zakten niet in toen hij zijn titel pakte. Verstappen bleef consistent presteren en dat bezorgde hem uiteindelijk al zijn successen.

McLaren

Verstappen zag dat zijn team Red Bull Racing iets deed wat de andere teams niet voor elkaar kregen. De Nederlander is daar trots op en hij wijst in de podcast 'Talking Bull' ook de grootste concurrent voor 2024 aan: "Wij waren het enige team dat heel erg consistent presteerde dit seizoen. Wie het meest indrukwekkend was achter ons, zeker als je kijkt hoe ze begonnen, was het team van McLaren. Het lijkt er op dat ze volgend jaar erg sterk zullen zijn."

Belangrijkste

Verstappen en Red Bull worden voor 2024 gezien als de titelfavorieten. Niemand ziet een reden voor een mindere periode voor de Oostenrijkse renstal. Verstappen wil echter niet te vroeg juichen: "Elk jaar is anders en het ligt er natuurlijk ook aan hoe goed de auto zal zijn. Als je voor het kampioenschap vecht, dan is de auto het belangrijkste. Daarnaast moeten je eigen prestaties ook heel consistent zijn. Elk jaar is een nieuwe uitdaging om dat te doen."

Het zal moeilijk worden dit jaar te overtreffen. Maar denk wel dat het weer een makkie gaat worden voor Max.

Die combinatie auto en consistentie treft je alleen bij Red Bull aan. Vandaag ondanks storm en regen is het opendeurdag.

  Nochtans niks nieuws - met een Williams zou hij ook geen WK worden, daar is Max nuchter genoeg om dat te weten.
  
  Iedereen verwacht RB vooraan volgend seizoen en dat is logisch gezien de ervaring die ze hebben opgebouwd en het begrip van de regels.
  
  Intussen zijn we wel een paar jaar verder in deze nieuwe regelgeving en weten andere teams intussen ook waar de mosterd te halen. Het zou wel fijn zijn mochten we wat gelijke krachtsverhoudingen zien volgend seizoen.

  Misschien dat McLaren inmiddels weet waar het de mosterd moet halen @Mr_Flexible maar daarmee hebben ze RB nog niet bijgehaald.
  Mercedes, Ferrari en AM moeten deze winter nog opzoek naar de mosterd, zo lijkt het.

  Klopt, geruchten zeggen helemaal niks.
  
  Bij de tests weten de teams snel hoe het bij iedereen zit maar houden de lippen stijf op elkaar of geven de standaard antwoorden.
  
  Voor de media en fans is het wachten tot de eerste kwalificatie om al een eerste indicatie te krijgen. Punten worden enkel uitgedeeld in de race en het ene circuit is niet het andere dus ook daar kunnen er verschillen zitten.
  
  Afwachten blijft ieder seizoen lastig, maar speculeren is wel aangenaam (als dat niet resulteert in flauwe grappen of frustraties). Zelf al erg benieuwd naar de nieuwe concepten .... mogelijk al bij de voorstelling van de wagens.
