Red Bull gebruikte bandentest om simulator te verbeteren

Alle Formule 1-teams moesten dit jaar minimaal twee keer een rookie inzetten tijdens de vrije trainingen. Red Bull Racing gaf een opvallende naam de kans in de persoon van Jake Dennis. De keuze voor de Brit had echter een zeer opvallende reden, hij is immers Red Bulls simulatorcoureur.

Red Bull besloot in Abu Dhabi twee rookies in te zetten. De keuze voor Red Bull Junior Isack Hadjar viel te begrijpen, maar de kans voor Jake Dennis zorgde voor meer vraagtekens. Dennis werd dit jaar kampioen in de Formule E, maar hij is ook simulatorcoureur voor Red Bull. Zijn kans kwam voor velen uit de lucht vallen. Hij mocht nog meer meters gaan maken, want hij reed ook tijdens de post season test.

Dennis is al een ervaren coureur, maar toch valt hij nog onder de rookieregels. Hij deelt zelf waarom hij meters mocht maken in Abu Dhabi. Bij Motorsport.com legt hij de bijzondere situatie uit: "Het ging er vooral om de auto te begrijpen en volgens mij is dat aardig gelukt. Ik heb 125 rondjes gereden en samen met Sergio Perez hebben we veel data verzameld. Voor Checo was het testprogramma natuurlijk heel anders, maar we hebben in ieder geval veel data verzameld die we kunnen gebruiken om de correlatie te verbeteren voor de RB20 en de simulator als geheel."

      Ik las het artikel ook net, en moest eigenlijk lachen, je herkent Max toch echt wel!!
      Sta je daar dan, je rijdt iedereen om je heen helemaal zoek, 3x wk, je kan er gewoon een kopen als het moet maar verzekeringstechnisch mag je niet. ik weet het zou heel arrogant klinken maar ik had dan gezegd ooow dan koop ik hem wel ff...... :)

      ‘However, there can be special circumstances that justify a deviation from rules. This is such a case.

      ‘We apologise to Mr Verstappen. He can rent the car he wants from us at any time.

      ‘There is of course no doubt at all about his driving skills and his experience with powerful cars.’
